The utility of the term ‘Rett‐like’ in relation to Rett syndrome: A systematic review

Our findings show that ‘Rett‐like’ generally describes females with developmental disability, typically with no period of regression. We establish that there is a broad genetic landscape encompassing this disorder. Clinical utility of ‘Rett‐like’ is limited, with inadequate evidence of validity and diagnostic use of ‘Rett‐like’.

AS3MT is a protein that helps the body process arsenic, a naturally occurring toxin found in water and soil. We discovered it also helps cells make and use energy properly. Without AS3MT, cells' mitochondria do not work well, leading to fatty liver and reduced activity. Increasing AS3MT in liver cells restores energy and protects against arsenic damage,

A guide to transcriptional cyclin‐dependent kinases in cancer

The FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Transcriptional cyclin‐dependent‐kinases (tCDKs) facilitate gene expression by promoting RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) progression through discrete phases of the transcription cycle. Aberrant tCDK activity is detectable in different human cancers, thereby contributing to de‐regulated gene expression programs that drive oncogenic phenotypes.

Selective autophagy pathways in ageing and neurodegeneration: Emerging roles for mitophagy and nucleophagy

As we age, cells gradually accumulate damage, which can contribute to disease and neurodegeneration. This review explores how two cellular recycling processes, mitophagy and nucleophagy, remove damaged mitochondria and nuclear material, respectively, to maintain cell health and long‐term neuronal homeostasis.
