Two‐Way Shape Memory Polymer Composite Gripper for Adaptive Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A two‐way shape memory polymer (SMP) composite is developed with intrinsic shape‐changing capability driven solely by temperature, eliminating external actuation loads. Embedding the SMP in a low‐stiffness elastomeric matrix enabled reversible transformations during heating and cooling cycles.

Non‐Dilute Synthesis of Macrodiolides and Macrotetrolides Enabled by Confinement Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Confinement catalysis within a hexameric resorcin[4]arene capsule enables macrolactonization under non‐dilute conditions (up to 0.1 M), overcoming the limitations of high‐dilution protocols (0.1–10 mM). This strategy provides direct access to 18–32‐membered macrodiolides and 26–32‐membered macrotetrolides in one pot and unlocks previously inaccessible ...

Stereoselective Synthesis of Euscapholide and Tetraketide via Prins Cyclisation and Ring-Closing Metathesis

open access: yesSynOpen, 2022
A concise and diastereoselective total synthesis of tetraketide and euscapholide is described in ten steps in 10.6% overall yield from acetaldehyde and (S)-pent-4-ene-1,2-diol.

Circularly Polarized Red‐NIR Emission With High Dissymmetry Factor From Achiral [Mo6I8(OCOC2F5)6]2− Cluster Anion Embedded in a Bent‐Core Liquid Crystal Host

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Associating a chiral bent core liquid crystal molecule, that self‐assembles into helical nanofilaments, with an achiral red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral molybdenum cluster produces a hybrid material exhibiting efficient red‐NIR circularly polarized emission under UV excitation.

Isolation of a Highly Reactive CBNC Heterocumulene via Azidoborylene Photolysis: Facile Access to a Crystalline Dioxaborirane

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Azidoborylene photolysis results in the isolation of a reactive C═B═N═C heterocumulene bearing an ambiphilic boron centre. Addition of 3O2 to this species results in the clean conversion to a unique example of a dioxaborirane. ABSTRACT Oxidation of the formal boron(0) complex MeCAAC2B in the presence of tetrabutylammonium azide leads to the formation ...

Profluorescent substrates for the screening of olefin metathesis catalysts

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2015
Herein we report on a 96-well plate assay based on the fluorescence resulting from the ring-closing metathesis of two profluorophoric substrates. To demonstrate the validity of the approach, four commercially available ruthenium-metathesis catalysts were

Olefin cross metathesis and ring closing metathesis in polymer chemistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The use of olefin cross metathesis in preparing functional polymers, through either pre-functionalisation of monomers or post-polymerisation functionalisation is growing in both scope and breadth. The broad functional group tolerance of olefin metathesis

Mitochondria and Neuromast Tagging With Fluorescent Gallium‐Triapine Analogues: In Cellulo MP FLIM and Zebrafish Live Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fluorescent BODIPY‐conjugated thiosemicarbazone ligands and their Ga(III), In(III), and Fe(III) complexes, inspired by Triapine, are developed as theranostic agents. Multiphoton FLIM and confocal microscopy in cancer cells and zebrafish reveal real‐time uptake, mitochondrial localisation, and whilst spectroscopic assays indicated preserved complex ...
