Survival of metastatic melanoma patients after dendritic cell vaccination correlates with expression of leukocyte phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein 1/Raf kinase inhibitory protein [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Immunotherapy for metastatic melanoma offers great promise but, to date, only a subset of patients have responded. There is an urgent need to identify ways of allocating patients to the most beneficial therapy, to increase survival and decrease therapy ...

ERK Signals: Scaffolding Scaffolds? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
ERK1/2 MAP Kinases become activated in response to multiple intra- and extra-cellular stimuli through a signaling module composed of sequential tiers of cytoplasmic kinases. Scaffold proteins regulate ERK signals by connecting the different components of

Narrative-based computational modelling of the Gp130/JAK/STAT signalling pathway. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
BACKGROUND: Appropriately formulated quantitative computational models can support researchers in understanding the dynamic behaviour of biological pathways and support hypothesis formulation and selection by "in silico" experimentation.

RKIP Downregulation Induces the HBx-Mediated Raf-1 Mitochondrial Translocation

open access: yesJournal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2011
The Raf-1 kinase inhibitory protein (RKIP) can regulate multiple key signaling pathways. Specifically, RKIP binds to Raf-1 kinase and inhibits the Ras-Raf-1-MEK1/2- ERK1/2 pathway. Additionally, Raf-1 has been shown to translocate to mitochondria and thereby protect cells from stress-mediated apoptosis.

A complete knot invariant from contact homology

open access: yes, 2016
We construct an enhanced version of knot contact homology, and show that we can deduce from it the group ring of the knot group together with the peripheral subgroup. In particular, it completely determines a knot up to smooth isotopy.

Proteomic profiling of 13 paired ductal infiltrating breast carcinomas and non-tumoral adjacent counterparts. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
According to recent statistics, breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of death among women in Western countries. Breast cancer is a complex and heterogeneous disease, presently classified into several subtypes according to their cellular origin.

RKIP expression associated with gastric cancer cell invasion and metastasis

open access: yesTumor Biology, 2012
The purpose of this study was to analyze Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) expression in gastric cancer tissue, its correlation with gastric cancer clinical pathology, and its role in gastric cancer invasion and metastasis in order to provide experimental evidence for the potential biological therapy of this disease.

Qualitative Modelling of Quasi-homogeneous Effects in ERK and STAT Interaction Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
On the basis of qualitative analysis of author's model published in previous paper, the stability and temporal behaviour of quasi-homogeneous distributions of ERK-protein concentrations are analyzed in terms of corresponding reaction-diffusion problem ...

Decreased microRNA-224 and its clinical significance in non-small cell lung cancer patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: MicroRNA-224 has been proven dysregulated in some human malignancies and correlated with tumor progression. However, its expression and clinical significance in non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still unclear.

Inhibition of RKIP aggravates thioacetamide‑induced acute liver failure in mice

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2018
Accumulating evidence has indicated that Raf kinase inhibitor protein (RKIP) is involved in several intracellular signaling pathways; its abnormal expression is associated with tumor progression and metastasis in several human neoplasms. However, the role of RKIP in acute liver injury has remained elusive.
