Endogenous Double-Stranded RNA [PDF]
The birth of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) is closely associated with the presence and activation of repetitive elements in the genome. The transcription of endogenous retroviruses as well as long and short interspersed elements is not only essential ...

Overstretching Double-Stranded RNA, Double-Stranded DNA, and RNA-DNA Duplexes. [PDF]
Using single-molecule force measurements, we compare the overstretching transition of the four types of duplexes composed of DNA or RNA strands. Three of the four extremities of each double helix are attached to two microscopic beads, and a stretching force is applied with a dual-beam optical trapping interferometer.

RNA Interference by Single- and Double-stranded siRNA With a DNA Extension Containing a 3′ Nuclease-resistant Mini-hairpin Structure [PDF]
Selective gene silencing by RNA interference (RNAi) involves double-stranded small interfering RNA (ds siRNA) composed of single-stranded (ss) guide and passenger RNAs.

Neurodegeneration, Heterochromatin, and Double-Stranded RNA [PDF]
Changes in chromatin and epigenetic modifications have been associated with aging and aging-associated neurodegenerative diseases, although the causal relationship between these changes and disease-related pathology has been unclear.

Double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) can function as genetic information and may have served as genomic material before the existence of DNA-based life. By developing a method to purify dsRNA, we have investigated the diversity of dsRNA in microbial populations ...

Double stranded RNA sensing is silenced during early embryonic development [PDF]
The type I interferon response is inactive during early mammalian development and becomes functional only after gastrulation. As a result, the totipotent and pluripotent embryonic stages remain susceptible to pathogens, including viruses.

Breeding of virus-resistant transgenic sugarcane by the integration of the Pac1 gene
Various RNA viral diseases on sugarcane result in yield loss and decreased sugar content. Breeding new varieties with virus resistance is the main goal of the sugarcane breeding program.

RNA Helicase A Regulates the Replication of RNA Viruses
The RNA helicase A (RHA) is a member of DExH-box helicases and characterized by two double-stranded RNA binding domains at the N-terminus. RHA unwinds double-stranded RNA in vitro and is involved in RNA metabolisms in the cell.

Circular DNAs derived from single-stranded RNA viruses play important roles in counteracting viral infection. However, whether double-stranded RNA viruses generate functional circular DNAs is still unknown. Using circDNA sequencing, divergent PCR, DNA in
