The RNA Activator ds-p21 Potentiates the Cytotoxicity Induced by Fludarabine in Dohh2 Cells [PDF]
Recently, it has been reported that, in several tumor cell lines, short double-stranded RNAs tailored for promoter regions of specific genes are able to activate their transcription.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Structural features of adenovirus 2 virus-associated RNA required for binding to the protein kinase DAI [PDF]
The double-stranded RNA activated protein kinase DAI contains an RNA binding domain consisting of two copies of a double-stranded RNA binding motif. We have investigated the role of RNA structure in the interaction between DAI and the structured single ...

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Identification of Five Putative Yeast RNA Helicase Genes [PDF]
The RNA helicase gene family encodes a group of eight homologous proteins that share regions of sequence similarity. This group of evolutionarily conserved proteins presumably all utilize ATP (or some other nucleoside triphosphate) as an energy source ...

This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Alternative approach to generate shRNA from cDNA
Short hairpin RNA (shRNA) synthesized from vector-based expression is as effective as short interfering RNA (siRNA) synthesized in vitro for suppressing the expression of their corresponding genes.
