Size analysis of heterogeneous nuclear RNA in an aqueous gel system
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1978We have analyzed the size distribution of heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) from cultured murine cells in an aqueous gel system consisting of 1.8% polyacrylamide and 0.5% agarose. hnRNA, labeled in vivo with 32P at a low specific activity, was labeled in vitro at its 3'-end with NaB3H4, and fractionated by gel electrophoresis.

Electron microscopic observations of heterogeneous nuclear RNA of chicken reticulocytes
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis, 1981Secondary structures of annealed, snapped-back and untreated chicken reticulocyte poly(A)-containing nuclear RNA were investigated by electron microscopy. Three shapes of molecules were observed: 'coat'hanger' shaped, loop-bearing and filamentous molecules. The former two shaped molecules consist of a small and large fold-back or loop plus a short hook

Defining the units in which the eucaryotic genome is transcribed and translated is central to any analysis of eucaryotic gene expression. The relationship between heterogeneous nuclear RNA and messenger RNA raises the question of whether the primary transcript may be more complex than the sequence which is translated; as I concluded last month in the ...

[Nuclear RNA turnover. 1. Metabolic heterogeneity].
Molekuliarnaia biologiia, 1981It is usually necessary to compare the kinetics of labelling of nucleoside triphosphates and nuclear RNAs to determine the turnover rate (half-life, T1/2) of nuclear RNAs. It is shown that the widely adopted correction for non-constant specific radioactivity of precursor pool is not correct in general and could be used only for very stable RNAs.

[Biosynthesis and processing of heterogeneous nuclear RNA in rat thymocytes].
Biokhimiia (Moscow, Russia), 1988Using [14C]adenine as a labeled precursor, the biosynthesis and processing of heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) in chromatin and nucleoplasm were studied. It was shown that intraperitoneally injected actinomycin D (50-500 micrograms/100 g of body weight) did not inhibit the biosynthesis of hnRNA and rRNA in rat thymocytes.
