Functional characterization of Ysh1p, the yeast endonuclease involved in 3" end processing and in transcription termination of RNA polymerase II transcripts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Eukaryotic RNA polymerase II (RNAP II) is involved in the synthesis of two major classes of transcripts: messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and small nuclear and small nucleolar RNAs.

RAID: a comprehensive resource for human RNA-associated (RNA–RNA/RNA–protein) interaction [PDF]

open access: yesRNA, 2014
Transcriptomic analyses have revealed an unexpected complexity in the eukaryote transcriptome, which includes not only protein-coding transcripts but also an expanding catalog of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs). Diverse coding and noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) perform functions through interaction with each other in various cellular processes.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Molecular mechanism of the RNA helicase DHX37 and its activation by UTP14A in ribosome biogenesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Eukaryotic ribosome biogenesis is a highly orchestrated process involving numerous assembly factors including ATP-dependent RNA helicases. The DEAH helicase DHX37 (Dhr1 in yeast) is activated by the ribosome biogenesis factor UTP14A to facilitate ...

Studying PR2 and PAL genes involvement in rice resistance against Acidovorax avenae subsp. Avenae [PDF]

open access: yesمجله بیوتکنولوژی کشاورزی, 2016
Plant diseases are one of the major constraints of agricultural productions. Rice bacterial brown stripe, caused by Acidovorax avenae subsp. avenae is recognized by producing water-soaked and brown stripes on leaves and sheaths of rice seedlings in ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Modified Aminoglycosides Bind Nucleic Acids in High-Molecular-Weight Complexes

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2020
Aminoglycosides represent a large group of antibiotics well known for their ability to target the bacterial ribosome. In studying 6”-substituted variants of the aminoglycoside tobramycin, we serendipitously found that compounds with C12 or C14 ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Editosome Accessory Factors KREPB9 and KREPB10 in Trypanosoma brucei [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Multiprotein complexes, called editosomes, catalyze the uridine insertion and deletion RNA editing that forms translatable mitochondrial mRNAs in kinetoplastid parasites.
