RNA‐binding properties of hnRNP proteins [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1988
The RNA‐binding properties of the hnRNP monoparticle proteins were examined using a renaturing blotting procedure. All ‘core’ proteins are able to bind single‐stranded nucleic acids, probably not sequence‐specific. The core proteins C1 and, in one case A2 and B2, are able to bind nucleic acids which are double‐stranded or which show a high degree of ...

Helical defects in microRNA influence protein binding by TAR RNA binding protein.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
BackgroundMicroRNAs (miRNAs) are critical post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression. Their precursors have a globally A-form helical geometry, which prevents most proteins from identifying their nucleotide sequence.

DNA and RNA Quadruplex-Binding Proteins [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2014
Four-stranded DNA structures were structurally characterized in vitro by NMR, X-ray and Circular Dichroism spectroscopy in detail. Among the different types of quadruplexes (i-Motifs, minor groove quadruplexes, G-quadruplexes, etc.), the best described are G-quadruplexes which are featured by Hoogsteen base-paring.

The Aberrant Expression of MicroRNA-125a-5p/IGF2BP3 Axis in Advanced Gastric Cancer and Its Clinical Relevance

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2020
RNA-binding proteins have been associated with cancer development. The overexpression of a well-known RNA-binding protein, insulin-like growth factor 2 messenger RNA–binding protein 3, has been identified as an indicator of poor prognosis in patients ...

Effective RNA Regulation by Combination of Multiple Programmable RNA-Binding Proteins

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
RNAs play important roles in gene expression through translation and RNA splicing. Regulation of specific RNAs is useful to understand and manipulate specific transcripts.

RNA-binding protein signaling in adult neurogenesis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2022
The process of neurogenesis in the brain, including cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and maturation, results in the formation of new functional neurons.

Mutagenesis and structural studies reveal the basis for the specific binding of SARS-CoV-2 SL3 RNA element with human TIA1 protein

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
Viral RNA-host protein interactions are indispensable during RNA virus transcription and replication, but their detailed structural and dynamical features remain largely elusive. Here, we characterize the binding interface for the SARS-CoV-2 stem-loop 3 (

RNA circuits and RNA-binding proteins in T cells [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Immunology, 2023
RNA is integral to the regulatory circuits that control cell identity and behavior. Cis-regulatory elements in mRNAs interact with RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) that can alter RNA sequence, stability, and translation into protein. Similarly, long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) scaffold ribonucleoprotein complexes that mediate transcriptional and post ...

Survey of the binding preferences of RNA-binding proteins to RNA editing events

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2022
Abstract Background Adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) editing is an important RNA posttranscriptional process related to a multitude of cellular and molecular activities. However, systematic characterizations of whether and how the events of RNA editing are associated with the binding preferences of RNA sequences to RNA ...

Characterizing the tumor RBP-ncRNA circuits by integrating transcriptomics, interactomics and clinical data

open access: yesComputational and Structural Biotechnology Journal, 2021
The interactions among non-coding RNA (ncRNA) and RNA binding protein (RBP) are increasingly recognized as one of basic mechanisms in gene regulation, and play a crucial role in cancer progressions.
