Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

RNAome sequencing delineates the complete RNA landscape

open access: yesGenomics Data, 2015
Standard RNA expression profiling methods rely on enrichment steps for specific RNA classes, thereby not detecting all RNA species. For example, small and large RNAs from the same sample cannot be sequenced in a single sequence run.

Multi-tissue Siberian sturgeon RNA sequencing data

open access: yesData in Brief, 2020
Siberian sturgeon, Acipenser baerii, is a commercially valuable fish for flesh and caviar production and a threatened species. We produced transcriptomic data for ten tissues with relevance to puberty, reproduction, early development, growth and food ...

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm: Genomics mark epigenetic dysregulation as a primary therapeutic target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare and aggressive hematologic malignancy for which there is still no effective B therapy.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

RNA-DNA differences in variant calls from cattle tissues result in erroneous eQTLs

open access: yesBMC Genomics
Background Association testing between molecular phenotypes and genomic variants can help to understand how genotype affects phenotype. RNA sequencing provides access to molecular phenotypes such as gene expression and alternative splicing while DNA ...

Legislative and Administrative Processes. By Hans A. Linde and George Bunn; Introduction to the American Public Law System: Cases and Materials. By Jerry L. Mashaw and Richard A. Merrill [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
Background: Genome and transcriptome sequencing applications that rely on variation in sequence depth can be negatively affected if there are systematic biases in coverage.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
