Body Size Regulates Niche Overlap Asymmetry in the Subtropical Andes Rain Shadow: Isotopic Paleoecology of Oligocene South American Ungulates

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study provides the first isotopic analysis of Oligocene mammals from Quebrada Fiera, Mendoza, Argentina, filling a major gap in South American paleontology. It reveals a latitudinal gradient in aridity due to the Andean rain shadow and highlights the role of (semi)permanent water bodies in sustaining diverse herbivore communities. Additionally, it

Bridging the Late Antique Gap in Northwest Arabia: New Archaeological Evidence on the Occupation of Wādī al‐Qurā (al‐ʿUlā [AlUla], Saudi Arabia) Between the Third and Seventh Centuries CE

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, the Dadan Archaeological Project (CNRS/RCU/AFALULA) identified a Late Antique village 1 km south of ancient Dadan in the al‐ʿUlā valley (northwest Saudi Arabia). Three excavation seasons at this site (2021–2023) have uncovered a massive building constructed in the late third or early fourth cent.

Microcontroller-Driven Temperature Control for Superior Coffee Roasting

open access: yesProceedings of International Exchange and Innovation Conference on Engineering & Sciences (IEICES)
This research developed an automatic coffee bean roasting machine using stainless steel 304 and an Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller. The machine's frame, made of stainless steel 304, features a door for easy access. A repurposed grill heating element serves as the roaster.

Sequence of Immunological Events During IgE‐Mediated Allergic Reactions to Food

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food allergies (FA) represent a significant global health burden. Upon allergen re‐exposure, allergic patients exhibit a sequence of symptoms that vary in terms of affected organ systems, severity, time of onset and allergen reactivity thresholds.

Multimodal Transformer Fusion of PTR‐ToF‐MS Volatiles and Targeted Non‐Volatile Metabolites Enables Data‐Driven Grading of Baimudan White Tea

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 18, 30 September 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Commercial grading of Baimudan white tea still relies largely on sensory evaluation and would benefit from a rapid, objective analytical approach. This study investigated whether PTR‐ToF‐MS volatile fingerprints combined with targeted non‐volatile metabolite measurements could support data‐driven grading of four official Baimudan ...

Effects of Direct Steam Injection and Spray‐Drying on the Physicochemical, Nutritional, and Functional Properties of Black Bean Protein Concentrates

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 3, September 2026.
Effects of direct steam injection and spray‐drying on the physicochemical, nutritional, and functional properties of black bean protein concentrates. ABSTRACT Direct steam injection (DSI) and spray‐drying are key unit operations in the industrial production of pulse protein ingredients that are often overlooked in laboratory‐scale studies.
