Occurence of a round window membrane rupture in patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Aim of the present study was to evaluate the occurence of a round window membrane rupture and the effects of hearing restoration after exploratory tympanotomy and sealing of the round window (niche) in patients with unilateral sudden deafness.

Round window membrane rupture [PDF]
AbstractRound Window Membrane Rupture is a surgically correctable cause of sudden hearing loss and vertigo. Reported is a 19‐year‐old male who had proven round window membrane rupture secondary to barotrauma. Surgical exploration revealed an abnormally large round window niche and membrane, possibly predisposing him to this injury.

Fluid-solid coupling model and biological features of large vestibular aqueduct syndrome
Objective: Computed tomography (CT) images of the temporal bone of large vestibular aqueduct syndrome (LVAS) patients were used to establish 3D numerical models based on the structure of the inner ear, which are, in turn, used to construct inner ear ...

Round Window Reinforcement-Induced Changes in Intracochlear Sound Pressure
Introduction: The round window membrane (RWM) acts as a pressure-relieving membrane for incompressible cochlear fluid. The reinforcement of the RWM has been used as a surgical intervention for the treatment of superior semicircular canal dehiscence and ...
