Nutritive Value and Nutrient Digestibility of Silages From Different Parts of Fodder Beet With or Without Lactobacillus buchneri Inoculants for Sheep. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
Whole fodder beet silage (with/without Lactobacillus buchneri) in sheep diets improved dry matter intake and rumen fermentation compared to tops or bulbs alone. Although corn silage showed highest digestibility, whole beet silage—especially with LB—demonstrated promising rumen pH, NH3‐N and acetate:propionate ratio, serving as a viable alternative feed.

Effects of Slow Release Urea Supplementation of Sheep Protein Source Feed Protected with Condensed Tannin from Leucaena on Protein Degradation in Rumen and Post-rumen In Vitro

open access: yesAnimal Production: Indonesian Journal of Animal Production, 2017
The objectives of the research were to supply nitrogen for protein synthesis of ruminal microbe from slow release urea and to supply post-rumen protein from soybean meal protected with condensed tannin (CT) from crude Leucaena leaves extract.

Functional Changes of the Community of Microbes With Ni-Dependent Enzyme Genes Accompany Adaptation of the Ruminal Microbiome to Urea-Supplemented Diets

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Urea is an inexpensive non-protein nitrogen source commonly supplemented to the diets of ruminants. It is cleaved to ammonia by bacterial ureases, which require Ni as a catalyst for ureolysis.

Interactions between Entodinium caudatum and an amino acid-fermenting bacterial consortium: fermentation characteristics and protozoal population in vitro

open access: yesJournal of Animal Science and Technology, 2023
Ruminal protozoa, especially entodiniomorphs, engulf other members of the rumen microbiome in large numbers; and they release oligopeptides and amino acids, which can be fermented to ammonia and volatile fatty acids (VFAs) by amino acid-fermenting ...
