Detection and Analysis of S-Acylated Proteins via Acyl Resin–Assisted Capture (Acyl-RAC)

open access: yesBIO-PROTOCOL
Protein palmitoylation is a lipid modification where a palmitoyl group is covalently attached via a thioester linkage to one or more cysteines on a substrate protein. This modification, catalyzed by a group of enzymes named DHHC enzymes after their conserved Asp-His-His-Cys motif, plays a significant role in regulating the localization, stability, and ...

Stereochemistry of the acyl dihydroxyacetone phosphate acyl exchange reaction.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1991
The fatty acid of acyl dihydroxyacetone phosphate can be exchanged enzymatically for another fatty acid. It has been shown that this reaction proceeds by cleavage of the oxygen bound to C-1 of the dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) moiety rather than by the more common cleavage at the acyl to oxygen bond.

From Oxygen to Tellurium: The Impact of the Chalcogen on Nucleophilicities and Basicities of Isochalcogenourea Catalysts

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Incorporation of different chalcogen atoms allows for the fine‐tuning of nucleophilicity and basicity of commonly used isochalcogenourea organocatalyst scaffolds. Kinetic and thermodynamic descriptors for the molecular properties of the catalysts are introduced as tools to predict their efficiency and tested in acyl transfer and allenoate activation ...

Rif1 S-acylation mediates DNA double-strand break repair at the inner nuclear membrane

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Rif1 is involved in different processes such as telomere homeostasis, DNA replication timing, and DNA double strand break (DSB) repair pathway choice.
