Use of N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) to activate carbon and heteroatoms in aromatic compounds is reviewed based on key dearomative NHC‐bound intermediates, i.e., ortho‐quinodimethanes (o‐QDMs), ortho‐quinone methides (o‐QMs) and aza‐analogs (aza‐o‐QMs), aza‐fulvene and triaza‐diene intermediates.

First syntheses of pyrrolidine‐, piperidine‐, and azepane tricyclic β‐lactams based on a saturated scaffold are achieved through an Fe‐pyrimidinediimine‐catalysed [2 + 2] cycloaddition of allylamines analogues followed by photo‐induced intramolecular C─H insertion.

Diketopiperazine formation (DKP) is one of the most serious side reactions during peptide synthesis. An accurate method to determine the DKP formation in peptide synthesis on Wang resin is reported. Furthermore, the strategies to minimize this side reaction and side products lacking C‐terminal amino acids are described. Diketopiperazine formation (DKP)

A Radical‐Based, Transition Metal‐Free Approach for Diaryl Ketone Synthesis
A sustainable and scalable one‐pot route to diverse diaryl ketones is described, proceeding via a distinctive radical process between aryl halides and benzonitriles, initiated by KOtBu/DMA and driven by air as the sole oxidant. Free from transition metals, peroxides, and carbon monoxide, this catalyst‐free and selective method exhibits broad functional
