Natural Products as Modulators of ABC Transporters in Breast Cancer

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 7, Page 4611-4637, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Breast cancer remains a significant global health challenge, with high incidence and mortality rates despite advancements in early detection and treatment. Multidrug resistance (MDR), particularly in aggressive subtypes like triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC), continues to hinder effective therapy.

Comparative Effects of Deferiprone and Salinomycin on Lead-Induced Disturbance in the Homeostasis of Intrarenal Essential Elements in Mice

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2022
Lead (Pb) exposure induces severe nephrotoxic effects in humans and animals. Herein, we compare the effects of two chelating agents, salinomycin and deferiprone, on Pb-induced renal alterations in mice and in the homeostasis of essential elements.

Co-delivery of Salinomycin and Curcumin for Cancer Stem Cell Treatment by Inhibition of Cell Proliferation, Cell Cycle Arrest, and Epithelial–Mesenchymal Transition

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
Malignant cancer is a devastating disease often associated with a poor clinical prognosis. For decades, modern drug discoveries have attempted to identify potential modulators that can impede tumor growth.

Inhibitory Effects of Salinomycin on Cell Survival, Colony Growth, Migration, and Invasion of Human Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer A549 and LNM35: Involvement of NAG-1.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
A major challenge for oncologists and pharmacologists is to develop more potent and less toxic drugs that will decrease the tumor growth and improve the survival of lung cancer patients.

Salinomycin triggers prostate cancer cell apoptosis by inducing oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum stress via suppressing Nrf2 signaling

open access: yesExperimental and Therapeutic Medicine, 2021
Salinomycin is a polyether antiprotozoal antibiotic that is widely used as an animal food additive. Some antifungal, antiparasitic, antiviral and anti-inflammatory activities have been reported for salinomycin.

Chemotherapy‐driven expression of WNT ligands in bone marrow stromal cells contributes to chemoresistance in acute lymphoblastic leukaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 5, Page 1572-1583, May 2026.
Chemotherapy‐induced WNT ligand secretion by bone marrow (BM) stroma drives acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) chemoresistance. WNT pathway inhibition disrupts this cross‐talk and restores therapeutic response, highlighting WNT inhibitors as a promising strategy to prevent relapse in ALL.

Activation of the JNK pathway by salinomycin.

open access: yes, 2012
(A) Exposure to 2.5 µM salinomycin induced the expression and activation of JNK, as well as its target JUN in MCF-7 cells. (B) Increased JNK kinase activity after salinomycin treatment in MCF-7. The JNK kinase assay was carried out after treatment with 2.

Influence of Salinomycin on the Performance of Broiler Chicks

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Two experiments were conducted to determine the influence of graded levels of salinomycin on the performance of broiler chicks. Cobb feather-sexed chicks were fed experimental diets from 1 to 21 days of age. A significant depression in body weight and feed consumption was obtained when the feed contained 77 ppm of salinomycin.
