STUDIES ON SALMONELLA PULLORUM PHAGE : I.ISOLATION OF PHAGES AND THEIR PROPERTIES

open access: yesThe Japanese Journal of Veterinary Science, 1965

The potential of using bacteriophages targeting Salmonella Dublin in cattle herds

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Salmonella Dublin causes severe illness in cattle and humans and can persistently infect cattle herds for years despite comprehensive control efforts. Bacteriophages are viruses that specifically kill bacteria.

Application of a Phage Cocktail for Control of Salmonella in Foods and Reducing Biofilms

open access: yesViruses, 2019
Salmonella contamination in foods and their formation of biofilms in food processing facility are the primary bacterial cause of a significant number of foodborne outbreaks and infections.

A phage-typing scheme forSalmonella enteritidis [PDF]

open access: yesEpidemiology and Infection, 1987
SUMMARYFor many years phage typing has proved invaluable in epidemiological studies onSalmonella typhi, S. paratyphi AandB, S. typhimuriumand a few other serotypes. A phage-typing scheme forS. enteritidisis described. This scheme to date differentiates 27 types using 10 typing phages.

Recombinational circularization of Salmonella phage P22 DNA [PDF]

open access: yesVirology, 1977
The development of phage P22 following infection involves a mandatory recombination step, the timing of which is the same in both the lytic and lysogenic pathways. Covalently circular molecules of phage DNA were identified by alkaline sucrose sedimentation of infected cell lysates.

Phenotypic characterization and genome analysis of a novel Salmonella Typhimurium phage having unique tail fiber genes

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium is a foodborne pathogen causing occasional outbreaks of enteric infections in humans. Salmonella has one of the largest pools of temperate phages in its genome that possess evolutionary significance for pathogen ...

Phage Typing Scheme for Salmonella braenderup [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Microbiology, 1968
A phage typing scheme for Salmonella braenderup based on both phage sensitivity and lysogenicity patterns is presented. Three S. braenderup symbiotic phages (br A, br B, and br C) were used in the phage sensitivity test, and three indicator strains were

A STUDY ON THE PHAGE IN SALMONELLA MIAMI

open access: yesUirusu, 1960
A supernatant of bouillon cultures of S. miami contains a kind of phage. This is the phage which S. miami liberates and it is temporarily called λ phage. This phage is weak and is mostly inactivated by heating of 60°C for 30 minutes. This has closely serological relation with palos phage (this is the phage which S.

Phage typing of Salmonella enteritidis in the United States [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1991
The number of reported isolates of Salmonella enteritidis has increased dramatically in the last 10 years. For many years phage typing has been a useful epidemiologic tool for studying outbreaks of S. typhi and S. typhimurium. In 1987, Ward et al. (L. R. Ward, J. De Sa, and B. Rowe, Epidemiol. Infect.

Clinical and environmental wastewater-based bacteriophage surveillance for high-impact diarrheal diseases, including cholera, in Bangladesh

open access: yesmBio
Bacteriophages (phages) likely play a critical role in modulating transmission dynamics of diarrheal pathogens. This study investigated the role of phages in modulating the prevalence and seasonal patterns of major diarrheal pathogens, Vibrio cholerae O1
