Antibiotic Remodeling of the Gut Microbiota Impairs Host Resistance to Secondary Infection
Gut microbial dynamics induced by four antibiotics, revealed distinct taxonomic and functional shifts. Vancomycin‐perturbed bacteriomes were proven to promote pathogen resistance to antibiotic treatment. Metronidazole‐treated mice showed pronounced Salmonella translocation to hepatic tissue, and altered Enterococcus avium populations modulated host ...

Prevalence of Salmonella spp. in Pet Reptiles in Japan
From November 2000 to July 2002, 112 fecal samples from pet reptiles, including 18 turtles, 71 lizards and 23 snakes, sold at a pet shop were examined for the prevalence of Salmonella spp. in Japan. Salmonella spp. were isolated from 83 (74.1%) of 112 samples, and a total of 112 Salmonella isolates were identified as subspecies I to IV. The majority of

Prospective multi‐site cohorts, multi‐omics profiling, and computational analysis may help identify biomarker patterns across clinical settings in IBD and superimposed infections. With further mechanistic and clinical validation, these signals could support the development of practical multi‐analyte tools for more precise diagnosis and management ...

Multilocus sequence typing as a replacement for serotyping in Salmonella enterica [PDF]
Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica is traditionally subdivided into serovars by serological and nutritional characteristics. We used Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) to assign 4,257 isolates from 554 serovars to 1092 sequence types (STs).

Abstract BACKGROUND This study created functional fermented goat milk by adding blackberry pulp and probiotics (Lactobacillus acidophilus LA‐5 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis Bb‐12). The preparation involved two variations of fermented goat milk with blackberry (Rubus sp.), distinguished by the absence (fermented goat milk, FGM) or inclusion

Elicitation of expert knowledge on controlling Salmonella in the pork chain
Salmonella is one of the most important risks for food safety, and pork is one of the sources of human salmonellosis. A chain approach is essential to reduce Salmonella in pork products.
