Sample Preparation and Delivery

As a direct-analysis technique, SIFT-MS has differing sample preparation and sample delivery requirements to GC, the most widely used technique for analysing volatile compounds. This chapter summarises the general principles of effective sample delivery to SIFT-MS instruments, with reference to the GC methods.

Micromachined needles for microbiological sample and drug delivery system

Proceedings International Conference on MEMS, NANO and Smart Systems, 2004
In this paper, the research and development of micromachined needles for microbiological sample and drug delivery system are reviewed. The micromachined needles can be classified into in-plane and out-of-plane needles. The features of those microneedles are analyzed and discussed.

Mars Rover Sample Return mission delivery and return challenges

1st International Symposium on Space Automation and Robotics, 1988
The Mars Rover Sample Return mission is a robotic exploration mission culminating in the return of atmospheric and surface samples from Mars to Earth. To accomplish this complex mission requires sophisticated autonomous systems for many time-critical operations associated with the delivery and return phases, since the round trip light times preclude ...

Optical techniques and microtools for subcellular delivery and sampling

2017
The vast majority of biochemical and histological assays are conducted upon ensembles of tens or hundreds or thousands of cells. However, there is a robust and increasing volume of evidence that small subpopulations of cells play significant roles in the development of many disease states, and particularly in their evolution toward treatment resistance.
