Iron deficiency is prevalent in a sample of pregnant women at delivery in Germany

European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology, 2002
To determine the prevalence and risk factors of iron deficiency in pregnancy, since iron supplements are not routine in Germany.Soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR), ferritin, hemoglobin (Hb), C-reactive protein (CRP) and leucocyte counts were determined in venous blood samples of 378 women before delivery; 191 of them filled in a questionnaire ...

Sample Preparation and Delivery

As a direct-analysis technique, SIFT-MS has differing sample preparation and sample delivery requirements to GC, the most widely used technique for analysing volatile compounds. This chapter summarises the general principles of effective sample delivery to SIFT-MS instruments, with reference to the GC methods.

Optical techniques and microtools for subcellular delivery and sampling

2017
The vast majority of biochemical and histological assays are conducted upon ensembles of tens or hundreds or thousands of cells. However, there is a robust and increasing volume of evidence that small subpopulations of cells play significant roles in the development of many disease states, and particularly in their evolution toward treatment resistance.

The Study of a Remote-Controlled Gastrointestinal Drug Delivery and Sampling System

Telemedicine and e-Health, 2008
A micromachined capsule based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology is introduced in this paper. It is an effective tool for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal diseases. The microcapsule can carry out real-time drug release and the gastrointestinal fluid sampling in the gastrointestinal tract.
