miR-939-3p induces sarcoma proliferation and poor prognosis via suppressing BATF2

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundSarcoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis, in which oncogene activation and tumor suppressor inactivation are involved.

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Early recurrence and prognosis in patients undergoing resection of primary retroperitoneal sarcoma: an international, retrospective cohort studyResearch in context

open access: yesEClinicalMedicine
Summary: Background: Complete surgical resection of retroperitoneal sarcomas (RPS) remains the cornerstone of potentially curative treatment. However, recurrence is common and timing of relapse is thought to reflect tumour biology. We aimed to determine

Cytokine Induced Killer cells are effective against sarcoma cancer stem cells spared by chemotherapy and target therapy.

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2018
Metastatic bone and soft tissue sarcomas often relapse after chemotherapy (CHT) and molecular targeted therapy (mTT), maintaining a severe prognosis. A subset of sarcoma cancer stem cells (sCSC) is hypothesized to resist conventional drugs and sustain ...

Intracranial transplantation of the tumor induced by adenovirus type 12 in Syrian hamster--an experimental brain tumor model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
A method of intracranial transplantation of the tumor induced by adenovirus type 12 in syrian hamster has been described. The incidence of intracranial tumor development was 86 (90.5 %) out of 95 animals and the average survival time and tumor size at ...

Circulating microRNA signatures of cachexia and cancer in Canis familiaris as a comparative oncology model for human disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating microRNAs as biomarkers of cachexia and sex‐specific cancer in senior dogs. In 25 client‐owned dogs, four circulating miRNAs (miR‐15a, miR‐15b, miR‐16, miR‐140) were downregulated in cachexia, with miR‐16 the strongest individual biomarker (AUC = 0.899).

Single‐cell DNA methylation profiling: Technologies, computation, and applications in precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell DNA methylation (scDNAme) profiling maps epimutational clonal evolution, revealing mechanisms of malignancy and therapeutic resistance across diverse cancer types. By providing a high‐resolution landscape of intratumoral heterogeneity, these technologies empower precise patient stratification, guide the development of enhanced ...
