A critical review of the impact of sarcoma on psychosocial wellbeing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background. Previous reviews of outcomes in specific sarcoma populations suggest patients have poor quality of life. In most of these reviews, there is a predominant focus on physical function rather than psychosocial outcome.

The Impact of the COVID‐19 Pandemic on Childhood Cancer Survival: A Population‐Based Assessment of Survival Patterns Between 2015 and 2023 in Germany

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Numerous international studies have reported declines in new cancer diagnoses, delayed diagnoses and disruptions in cancer treatment following the implementation of COVID‐19 pandemic public health measures, raising concerns that these effects may ultimately contribute to increased cancer mortality.

Late-onset meningeal metastases in liposarcoma: A case report and review of the literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Intracranial metastases from liposarcoma are rare and almost always preceded by the development of systemic tumour spread. We report here a case of liposarcoma with spread to the cranial nervous system 23 years after treatment of the primary tumour.

Referral Patterns and Diagnostic Timeliness in Pediatric Cancer: A Hospital‐Based Study in Indonesia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Timely diagnosis and treatment are critical for improving survival among children with cancer. In low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs), delays are common and may be influenced by fragmented referral pathways and diagnostic limitations.

Inverse relationship between tumour proliferation markers and connexin expression in a malignant cardiac tumour originating from mesenchymal stem cell engineered tissue in a rat in-vivo model.

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2013
Background: Recently, we demonstrated the beneficial effects of engineered heart tissues for the treatment of dilated cardiomyopathy in rats. For further development of this technique we started to produce engineered tissue (ET) from mesenchymal stem ...

Experimental Production of Sarcomas by Methyl Methacrylate Implants.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1954
SummarySubcutaneous implantation of methyl methacrylate film in mice resulted in a 25% incidence of fibrosarcomas. The incidence of fibrosarcomas was 14.3% with cellophane implants.

Liver organoids: modelling complexity in homeostasis and disease

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Studying liver in vitro has been challenging because simple 2D cell cultures fail to capture liver's cellular and architectural complexity. To bridge this gap, scientists increasingly use organoids, 3D liver models which better mimic liver composition and function. This review examines recent advances in liver organoid complexity and realism, discusses

Predictive Value of Quantitative Parameters of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Patients with Liposarcoma

open access: yesDiagnostics
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the predictive features of baseline F-18-fluorodeoxy-D-glucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET)/computed tomography (CT) parameters in patients with dedifferentiated liposarcomas (DDLPSs) and well ...

Aggressive Kaposi's Sarcoma in a 6-month-old African infant: Case Report and Review of the Literature. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), known to exist in Africa for a century now, was rare in children and unknown in the newborn. With the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, a more aggressive, disseminated type of KS (AKS) was recognized. Recently KS was diagnosed in a 6-

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
