DAAM Is Required for Thin Filament Formation and Sarcomerogenesis during Muscle Development in Drosophila [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2014
During muscle development, myosin and actin containing filaments assemble into the highly organized sarcomeric structure critical for muscle function.

A transcriptomics resource reveals a transcriptional transition during ordered sarcomere morphogenesis in flight muscle [PDF]

open access: yeseLife, 2018
Muscles organise pseudo-crystalline arrays of actin, myosin and titin filaments to build force-producing sarcomeres. To study sarcomerogenesis, we have generated a transcriptomics resource of developing Drosophila flight muscles and identified 40 ...

Extracellular vesicle characteristics and microRNA content in cerebral palsy and typically developed individuals at rest and in response to aerobic exercise [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2022
In this study, the properties of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) were examined in cerebral palsy (CP) and typically developed (TD) individuals at rest and after aerobic exercise, focusing on the size, concentration, and microRNA cargo of EVs ...

Biomechanics of Copenhagen Adduction Exercise and Eccentric Hip Adductor Exercises on a Novel Isokinetic Dynamometer With Within-Session Repeatability. [PDF]

open access: yesScand J Med Sci Sports
ABSTRACT This study biomechanically evaluated the eccentric phase of short and long lever Copenhagen adduction exercise (CAE) and compared them with unilateral and bilateral eccentric hip adductor exercises performed on a novel eccentric hip adductor dynamometer (EHAD). Fifteen participants completed two CAE variations and five EHAD exercises.

Partial Range, Full Gains? The Effect of 8 Weeks of Partial Range of Motion Training at Long Muscle Lengths on Elbow Flexor Hypertrophy and Strength in Trained Individuals. [PDF]

open access: yesEur J Sport Sci
ABSTRACT We investigated the effects of initial partial range of motion (pROMinitial; 0°–70°) and full range of motion (fROM; 0°–140°) training on elbow flexor hypertrophy and strength in resistance‐trained individuals. Thirteen individuals (males: n = 11, 26.6 ± 4.0 years, 89.2 ± 16.7 kg, and 183.3 ± 10.0 cm; females: n = 2, 24.0 ± 1.4 years, 75.5 ...

Control of sarcomerogenesis-growth of the heart

open access: yesProceedings of the Fifteenth Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, 2003
A theory for the growth of the cardiac sarcomere and heart size is proposed. The stress-strain environment and O/sub 2/ consumption are computed for the myocardium using a mechanical model of the left ventricle. Cardiac afterload and preload are maintained constant while the dimensions of the ventricle are altered.

The influence of sarcomerogenesis on the history dependence of force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The increase/decrease in isometric force following active muscle lengthening/shortening, relative to a reference isometric contraction at the same muscle length and level of activation, are referred to as residual force enhancement (rFE) and residual force depression (rFD), respectively.
