Clinical validation of a patient‐friendly saliva microsampling approach to monitor perampanel levels in people with epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 7, Page e102-e108, July 2026.
Abstract Perampanel (PER) is a third‐generation antiseizure medication (ASM) with a well‐established concentration–effect relationship. Saliva represents a non‐invasive alternative to plasma for therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of PER, as it reflects the free plasma fraction.

Development and Applications of the SCARA Robot

open access: yesJournal of Robotics and Mechatronics, 2014
In the 1980s, when the author worked for Seiko Epson Corporation as a wristwatch production engineer, consumer needs had become so diversified that wristwatches had to be assembled on the same automated assembly line in small lots of about 10,000 pieces per month.

Blue plaque review series: Thomas Graham Brown: Before his time

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, Volume 111, Issue 7, Page 3191-3202, 1 July 2026.
Abstract Thomas Graham Brown made a seminal discovery, published in 1911 while he was a Carnegie Fellow in the University of Liverpool laboratory of Nobel Prize winner Charles S. Sherrington. Working in cats, he showed that rhythmic ‘voluntary’ behaviour, such as stepping and, by inference, walking, does not result from a chain of reflex events, but ...

Sensor and Actuator Fault Diagnosis Based on Soft Computing Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Intelligent Systems, 2015
Computational intelligence techniques are being investigated as an extension of the traditional fault diagnosis methods. This article presents, for the first time, a scheme for fault detection and isolation (FDI) via artificial neural networks and fuzzy ...

A Review on Kinematically Redundant Parallel Mechanisms With Configurable Platforms

open access: yesSmartBot, Volume 1, Issue 4, December 2025.
This review systematically combs the development context and technical system of Parallel Mechanisms with Configurable Platforms (PMCPs). Furthermore, through the progressive logic of classification, analysis and application, the paper reveals how “kinematic redundancy” and “configurable platform” break through the rigid limitations of traditional ...

Evolution of macromolecular crystallography beamlines at the Swiss Light Source and SwissFEL

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 32, Issue 5, Page 1162-1183, September 2025.
This review examines two decades of continuous development in macromolecular crystallography beamlines at the Swiss Light Source, along with recent contributions from SwissFEL, in the broader context of the evolution of macromolecular crystallography at synchrotron and X‐ray free‐electron laser facilities. This review highlights the development and ...

Macrophages Internalize Epithelial‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles That Contain Ferritin via the Macrophage Scavenger Receptor 1 to Promote Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2025.
This study explores the interaction between intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) and macrophages through extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the context of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). IECs release iron‐loaded ferritin via EVs as the donor, while macrophage scavenger receptor 1 on the surface of macrophages serves as the receptor for the internalization

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 773-792, May 2025.
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.
