Shape‐Changing Multiphase Microparticles from Complex Liquid Crystal Emulsions
Liquid crystalline network (LCN) microparticles are prepared from single, double (Janus), and triple emulsions through a simple and scalable bulk‐emulsification strategy. Under heating, the particles exhibit robust, reversible, large‐amplitude deformations that depend both on the morphology and the liquid crystals director field configuration.

Combined single-pulse holography and time-resolved laser schlieren for flow visualization [PDF]
A pulsed ruby laser and continuous-wave argon ion laser were used in a combined setup at the Langley Expansion Tube for single pulse holography and time resolved laser schlieren with a common optical axis. The systems can be operated simultaneously for a

A hepatic‐differentiated subpopulation is associated with lymphovascular invasion in clear cell renal cell carcinoma. A visual summary of the key findings from our multi‐omics analysis. The TITANIA framework enabled the identification of a hepatic‐differentiated ccRCC subpopulation characterized by the upregulation of liver‐like metabolic pathways and ...

Viscous Effects in the Inception of Cavitation on Axisymmetric Bodies [PDF]
Cavitation inception and development on two axisymmetric bodies was studied with the aid of a Schlieren flow visualization method developed for that purpose. Both bodies were found to exhibit a laminar boundary layer separation; cavitation inception was

An incremental-stencil WENO reconstruction for simulation of compressible two-phase flows
An incremental-stencil WENO reconstruction method, which uses low-order candidate stencils with incrementally increasing width, is proposed for finite-volume simulation of compressible two-phase flow with the quasi-conservative interface model.

Shadow, Schlieren and Color Interferometry
This article describes the three main methods for visualization of a gas in motion based on local refractive index variations: shadowgraph, schlieren and interferometric techniques. These non-invasive methods have been used by Onera for visualizing and measuring the gas density fields of two-dimensional and axisymmetric flows, varied examples of which ...

APOE4 Increases Energy Metabolism in APOE-Isogenic iPSC-Derived Neurons
The apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) allele represents the major genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease (AD). In contrast, APOE2 is known to lower the AD risk, while APOE3 is defined as risk neutral.
