Molecular Characterization of Non‐Specific Esophagitis Reveals a Distinct Non‐Eosinophilic Phenotype With Fibrotic Traits

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study comprehensively characterizes non‐specific esophagitis and elucidates eosinophil‐independent fibrosis mechanisms. NSE appears to be a distinct fibrotic phenotype of the esophagus, without any considerable overlap with GERD and other chronic inflammatory disorders such as EoE or lymphocytic esophagitis.

Using Schlieren Imaging and a Radar Acoustic Sounding System for the Detection of Close-in Air Turbulence

open access: yesSensors, 2023
This paper presents a novel sensor for the detection and characterization of regions of air turbulence. As part of the ground truth process, it consists of a combined Schlieren imager and a Radar Acoustic Sounding System (RASS) to produce dual-modality ...

Patient‐Derived IgG Epitope Mapping of Bet v 1 Reveals Hypoallergenic Peptide Candidates for Safe and Next‐Generation Allergen Immunotherapy

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
Mapping IgG epitopes of the major birch allergen Bet v 1 identified patient‐derived, hypoallergenic peptides that did not trigger degranulation. These findings support a novel, safer approach for peptide‐based allergen immunotherapy that leverages naturally induced IgG specificities from allergic individuals. ABSTRACT Background Allergen immunotherapy (

Measurement of the Convection Velocities in a Hypersonic Turbulent Boundary Layer Using Two-Point Cylindrical-Focused Laser Differential Interferometer

open access: yesAerospace
A two-point cylindrical-focused laser differential interferometer (2P-CFLDI) system and a conventional Z-type Schlieren were used to measure the hypersonic turbulent boundary layer on a flat plate at Mach number Ma = 6 and Reynolds number Re = 1.08 × 106

Experimental Flow Investigation of a Truncated Ideal Contour Nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Various tests showed a significant side load peak for low nozzle pressure ratios during engine start-up and shut down phase. DLR Lampoldshausen carried out tests to examine the flow field in a truncated ideal contour nozzle for low NPR.

Novel murine closed‐loop auditory stimulation paradigm elicits macrostructural sleep benefits in neurodegeneration

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Boosting slow‐wave activity (SWA) by modulating slow waves through closed‐loop auditory stimulation (CLAS) might provide a powerful non‐pharmacological tool to investigate the link between sleep and neurodegeneration. Here, we established mouse CLAS (mCLAS)‐mediated SWA enhancement and explored its effects on sleep deficits in neurodegeneration,

Brain Endothelial Cells in Contrary to the Aortic Do Not Transport but Degrade Low-Density Lipoproteins via Both LDLR and ALK1

open access: yesCells, 2022
The transport of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) through the endothelium is a key step in the development of atherosclerosis, but it is notorious that phenotypic differences exist between endothelial cells originating from different vascular beds ...

Study of the turbulent mixing zone induced by the Richtmyer-Meshkov instability using Laser Doppler Velocimetry and Schlieren visualizations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
An experimental study of the compressible mixing generated by the Richtmyer-Meshkov instability (RMI) is carried out in a vertical shock tube by means of two-components Laser Doppler Velocimetry (2C-LDV) measurements and Time-resolved Schlieren ...

International multicentre evaluation of a new anti‐idiotypic anti‐daratumumab for resolving pre‐transfusion interferences

open access: yesVox Sanguinis, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Daratumumab, a therapeutic human anti‐CD38 monoclonal antibody, improves multiple myeloma outcomes but interferes with pre‐transfusion testing by binding CD38 on reagent red blood cells (RBCs), potentially masking clinically significant alloantibodies.
