Ultrasound-assisted swelling of bacterial cellulose [PDF]
Bacterial cellulose (BC) was obtained by static cultivation using commercial BC gel from scoby. BC membranes (oven dried and freeze-dried) were swelled with 8% NaOH, in absence and in presence of ultrasound (US), for 30, 60 and 90 min.

Functionalization of Bacterial Cellulose Filaments for Knitting Responsive Textiles
This study introduces a novel biofabrication strategy to create programmable, moisture‐responsive textiles from bacterial cellulose (BC) filaments, establishing a novel material platform that unites biological growth with textile engineering. By integrating BC fermentation, bioengineering, polymer science, and programmable knitting, we demonstrate how ...

Daily Consumption of Kombucha Influences the Urinary and Plasma Metabolome in a Healthy Human Cohort
An 8‐week randomized, double‐blind trial tested daily canned kombucha intake (330 mL) in healthy adults. Urinary metabolomics revealed increased polyphenol‐ and fermentation‐related metabolites, while plasma analysis showed reduced acetic acid and slightly lower isoButyric acid.

Outcomes-based Funding and Responsibility Center Management: Combining the Best of State and Institutional Budget Models to Achieve Shared Goals [PDF]
State governments serve as a key funding source for public higher education. An alternative to historically based state subsidies or enrollment-based formulas, outcomes-based funding allows states to convey goals for higher education by allocating state ...

Few-cycle Surface Plasmon Polariton Generation by Rotating Wavefront Pulses
A concept for the efficient generation of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) with a duration of very few cycles is presented. The scheme is based on grating coupling and laser pulses with wavefront rotation (WFR), so that the resonance condition for SPP ...

Few-femtosecond Electron Beam with THz-frequency Wakefield-driven Compression
We propose and demonstrate a novel method to produce few-femtosecond electron beam with relatively low timing jitter. In this method a relativistic electron beam is compressed from about 150 fs (rms) to about 7 fs (rms, upper limit) with the wakefield at
