Levels of mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead in Northeast Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) from northern European waters.

open access: yesMarine Pollution Bulletin
Fillets from a total of 1245 Northeast Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) sampled in different fishing areas of the Northeast Atlantic during 2007-2016 were analysed for mercury, cadmium, arsenic and lead using ICPMS. Mercury levels varied from

Enhancing fish community monitoring at a cabled observatory by combining environmental DNA and imaging analysis

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Cabled multiparametric observatories are sustaining ecological monitoring by collecting long‐term real‐time biological and environmental data. Here, we investigated fish communities by sampling environmental DNA (eDNA) over 4 days near the multiparametric cabled video‐observatory OBSEA (Northwestern Mediterranean Sea).

Evaluation of a fast method based on the presence of two restriction sites in the mitochondrial ND5 (mt ND5) gene for the identification of scomber species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
9 páginasThe purpose of this work was to evaluate the suitability of a method based on the presence of two restriction sites (for Hae III and Hindf I) in the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 5 (mt ND5) gene to identify Scomber species.

Surgical tagging of Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus): electroanaesthesia and survival in captivity and the field

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Electroanaesthesia using electric fish handling gloves induced rapid and reversible sedation of Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) during surgical tagging without observable adverse effects on behaviour or tag retention. In the laboratory, survival analyses revealed that longer handling times and smaller body sizes significantly reduced ...

Oxidative Changes of Lipids during Microwave Heating of Minced Fish Flesh in Catering

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2009
The influence of microwave heating (microwave oven Electrolux, 2450 MHz, 400 W) from 8 up to 24 min on the oxidation and fatty acid composition of lipids of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) and Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) minced fish flesh were ...
