A unified 3D reconstruction of microscopy and MRI in a brain showing Alzheimer's disease‐related neuropathology

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 36, Issue 2, March 2026.
Post mortem MRI was combined with neuropathological assessments at 600 μm intervals throughout the brain. Through this approach, a three dimensional account of an entire human brain with an intermediate Alzheimer's disease neuropathologic change was created.

Egg Adhesion of the Codling Moth Cydia pomonella L. (Lepidoptera, Tortricidae) to Synthetic Substrates

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 2, Page 243-253, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Previous studies on Cydia pomonella eggs have demonstrated reliable egg adhesion to the leaves and fruits of various apple cultivars. In contrast to biological substrates, this study is focused on standardised synthetic substrates to measure egg pull‐off forces and determine adhesive strength, allowing for an unbiased comparison with other ...

Creative Destruction or Just a Reshuffle? Turnover Among Businesses and Jobs in South Africa

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Economics, Volume 94, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT The concept of creative destruction emphasizes how the turnover of businesses and workers drives innovation, productivity gains and aggregate economic growth, even as individual firms and employees experience disruption. This article leverages administrative tax data for South Africa that measures flows rather than stocks, enabling a dynamic ...

Cell and Gene Therapy in Equine Ocular Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Equine ocular disease is common and often challenging to treat using traditional methods. This has led to the development of new therapies. Like human medicine, veterinary medicine is adopting cellular and gene therapy as innovative approaches. Equine ocular disease is a particularly promising area for these techniques.

Synergistic Osteogenesis After Co‐Administration of cmRNAs Encoding BMP‐2 and BMP‐7 Utilizing a Transcript‐Activated Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 10, 2 February 2026.
This study demonstrates that the dual delivery of BMP‐2/‐7 coding cmRNAs for bone healing is demonstrated as feasible, safe, and highly osteogenic. Compared to single BMP‐2 or BMP‐7 cmRNAs, the combination enhances the production of both mineral and organic components of the extracellular matrix when delivered using a collagen‐HA scaffold, supporting ...

Biomimetic Fibrinogen Nanofiber Scaffolds for Vascular Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
This study presents an advanced in vitro model of the vascular hematopoietic stem cell niche using self‐assembled fibrinogen nanofibers, mimicking the basement membrane in bone marrow (BM) sinusoids. The model supports the coculture of microvascular endothelial cells, stromal cells, and hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, providing insights into ...
