Numerical simulation of atomization process of nickel-based alloy powders prepared by vacuum induction melting gas atomization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
ANSYS Fluent 19.0 software is used to numerically simulate atomization process in the production of nickel-based alloy powders by VIGA. The gas flow field in the atomizing chamber and atomization process of the metal melt is studied.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Airway atomization with transtracheal block versus conventional airway nerve blocks for awake fiberoptic intubation: A comparative study

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: Awake fiberoptic intubation (AFI) is warranted to secure airway safely in patients with anticipated difficult intubation. Nebulization, atomization, or airway nerve blocks (ANBs) are often used for airway anesthesia.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Atomization characteristics and instabilities in the combustion of multi-component fuel droplets with high volatility differential

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We delineate and examine the successive stages of ligament-mediated atomization of burning multi-component fuel droplets. Time-resolved high-speed imaging experiments are performed with fuel blends (butanol/Jet A-1 and ethanol/Jet A-1) comprising wide ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Secondary Atomization of Droplets at Extreme Conditions

open access: yesAnnual Review of Fluid Mechanics
Droplets, which are ubiquitous in nature, are formed through intriguing processes, and one such route is air-assisted atomization or aerobreakup. This review focuses on secondary atomization, particularly the breakup of an individual droplet subjected to high-speed flows.

Influence of atomization quality on the destruction of hazardous waste compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The correlation between atomization quality and the destruction efficiency of hazardous organic compounds was studied in a turbulent spray flame. The atomization quality was varied by both changing spray nozzle parameters and by inducing disruptive ...
