Conformational and Structural Changes in Chickpea Proteins Caused by Simulated Salivary Alterations in the Elderly

open access: yesFoods, 2023
The impact of salivary alterations on chickpea protein structure in the elderly has not been well documented. This study aimed to understand the role of simulated salivary alterations in the conformational properties and secondary structure of the ...

Structure of $^{13}$Be probed via secondary beam reactions

open access: yes, 2014
The low-lying level structure of the unbound neutron-rich nucleus $^{13}$Be has been investigated via breakup on a carbon target of secondary beams of $^{14,15}$B at 35 MeV/nucleon.

Modifications in FLAP's second cytosolic loop influence 5‐LOX interaction, inhibitor binding, and leukotriene formation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The enzyme 5‐lipoxygenase (5‐LOX) catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of leukotrienes (LTs) involved in inflammatory pathophysiology. After cellular stimulation, 5‐LOX translocates to the nucleus, interacting with the 5‐LOX‐activating protein (FLAP) to form LTA4 from arachidonic acid (AA).

Analyzing Secondary Structure Patterns in DNA Aptamers Identified via CompELS

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
In contrast to sophisticated high-throughput sequencing tools for genomic DNA, analytical tools for comparing secondary structure features between multiple single-stranded DNA sequences are less developed.

Brucella NyxA and NyxB dimerization enhances effector function during infection

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Brucella abortus thrives inside cells thanks to the translocation of effector proteins that fine‐tune cellular functions. NyxA and NyxB are two effectors that destabilize the nucleolar localization of their host target, SENP3. We show that the Nyx proteins directly interact with each other and that their dimerization is essential for their function ...

Rational Design of Cyclic Antimicrobial Peptides Based on BPC194 and BPC198

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
A strategy for the design of antimicrobial cyclic peptides derived from the lead compounds c(KKLKKFKKLQ) (BPC194) and c(KLKKKFKKLQ) (BPC198) is reported.

RNA secondary structure prediction using large margin methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The secondary structure of RNA is essential for its biological role. Recently, Do, Woods, Batzoglou, (ISMB 2006) proposed a probabilistic approach that generalizes SCFGs using conditional maximum likelihood to estimate the model parameters. We propose an

Interplay between single-stranded binding proteins on RNA secondary structure

open access: yes, 2013
RNA protein interactions control the fate of cellular RNAs and play an important role in gene regulation. An interdependency between such interactions allows for the implementation of logic functions in gene regulation.
