Mesenchymal stromal cell-derived exosome-rich fractionated secretome confers a hepatoprotective effect in liver injury

open access: yesStem Cell Research & Therapy, 2018
Background Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are an attractive therapeutic agent in regenerative medicine. Recently, there has been a paradigm shift from differentiation of MSCs to their paracrine effects at the injury site.

The secretome of Staphylococcus aureus strains with opposite within-herd epidemiological behavior affects bovine mononuclear cell response

open access: yesVeterinary Research, 2023
Staphylococcus aureus modulates the host immune response directly by interacting with the immune cells or indirectly by secreting molecules (secretome).

MSC Secretome as a Promising Tool for Neuroprotection and Neuroregeneration in a Model of Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
Multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are considered to be critical contributors to injured tissue repair and regeneration, and MSC-based therapeutic approaches have been applied to many peripheral and central neurologic disorders.

Radiation-induced lung damage promotes breast cancer lung-metastasis through CXCR4 signaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Radiotherapy is a mainstay in the postoperative treatment of breast cancer as it reduces the risks of local recurrence and mortality after both conservative surgery and mastectomy.

Comparative Analysis of Adipose-Derived Stromal Cells and Their Secretome for Auricular Cartilage Regeneration

open access: yesStem Cells International, 2020
Adipose-derived stromal cells (ADSCs) can repair auricular cartilage defects. Furthermore, stem cell secretome may also be a promising biological therapeutic option, which is equal to or even superior to the stem cell.

Investigating interactions between epicardial adipose tissue and cardiac myocytes: what can we learn from different approaches? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Heart disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Some cardiovascular conditions can be modulated by lifestyle factors such as increased exercise or a healthier diet, but many require surgical or pharmacological ...

Loss of Endometrial Plasticity in Recurrent Pregnancy Loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
© 2015 AlphaMed Press.Menstruation drives cyclic activation of endometrial progenitor cells, tissue regeneration, and maturation of stromal cells, which differentiate into specialized decidual cells prior to and during pregnancy.

The light and shadow of senescence and inflammation in cardiovascular pathology and regenerative medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Recent epidemiologic studies evidence a dramatic increase of cardiovascular diseases, especially associated with the aging of the world population. During aging, the progressive impairment of the cardiovascular functions results from the compromised ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Analysis of the proteome and the secretome of animal trypanosomes : a standardized analytical method to look for new molecular targets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The causative agents of animal trypanosomosis are various species of protozoan parasites belonging to the genus Trypanosoma, among which T. congolense and T. evansi are the major pathogenic species. The extra cellular position of the trypanosomes implies
