Proteomic Analysis Reveals Key Proteins and Phosphoproteins upon Seed Germination of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the oldest cultivated crops and the second most important food crop in the world. Seed germination is the key developmental process in plant growth and development, and poor germination directly affects plant growth

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Influence of seed moisture content and storage period on germination and biochemical indices: Lallemantia iberica and Lallemantia royleana

open access: yesScientific Reports
The longevity of seeds varies greatly between species and seed viability reduction due to seed ageing is one of the major problems affecting agricultural productivity. To comprehend the mechanisms involved in the ageing, seeds of two plant species dragon

Differential Accumulation of Soybean Seed Storage Protein Subunits in Response to Sulfur and Nitrogen Nutritional Sources

open access: yesPlant Production Science, 2000
Soybean (Glycine max [L.] Merr.) seed storage proteins consist of subunits that differ in amino acid profile, the β-subunit of 7S protein being essentially devoid of the S-containing amino acids, methionine and cysteine.

Physiology of Chatham Island forget-me-not (Myosotidium hortensia) seed : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Applied Science in Seed Science and Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Chatham Island forget-me-not (Myosotidium hortensia (Decne) Baillon) is endemic to the Chatham Islands where it is mainly confined to the outer islands. There is speculation that seed of M.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Identification and characterisation of seed storage protein transcripts from Lupinus angustifolius

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2011
Background In legumes, seed storage proteins are important for the developing seedling and are an important source of protein for humans and animals. Lupinus angustifolius (L.), also known as narrow-leaf lupin (NLL) is a grain legume crop that is gaining

Biotechnology of Seed Crops: Genetic Engineering of Seed Storage Proteins [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1991
Table 1. Amino acid composition of total maize and soybean seed protein and purified storage protein fractions.z During their development, seeds accumulate large amounts of storage, or reserve, products that are metabolized during germination and the early stages of seedling growth.
