Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

Chiral Nanoparticles Suppress Inflammatory Infiltration to Promote Extracellular Matrix Remodeling for Ectopia Lentis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine‐configured chiral polyurethane nanoparticles suppress ocular inflammation and reduce extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation in ectopia lentis by regulating macrophages polarization and inhibiting nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway. By promoting zonular fiber‐associated protein restoration and tissue repair, this minimally invasive ...

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Usutu virus NS4A induces autophagy and is targeted by the selective autophagy receptor p62/SQSTM1 for degradation

open access: yesVirology Journal
Abstract Usutu virus (USUV) is an emerging orthoflavivirus, which mainly affects birds but in rare cases can cause severe neuroinvasive disease in humans. The virus relies on a multitude of host cell proteins, molecules and cellular processes for its replication, and must subvert host antiviral responses to establish a successful infection ...

Integrative Multi‐Omics Analysis Reveals a Mitochondrial–Immune Axis Associated With Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy Response in High‐Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrative multi‐omics analysis delineates a mitochondrial–immune axis governing neoadjuvant chemotherapy response in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Immune‐active tumors exhibit enhanced B‐cell infiltration and favorable sensitivity, whereas metabolically rewired tumors display oxidative phosphorylation dependency and resistance.

Autophagy augmented by troglitazone is independent of EGFR transactivation and correlated with AMP-activated protein kinase signaling

open access: yes, 2010
Troglitazone is a synthetic ligand of peroxisome proliferators activated receptor-gamma (PPAR gamma) and induces apoptosis in a variety of malignant cells.

Microglial Deubiquitinase OTUD7B Stabilizes STAT3 to Promote Neuroinflammation and Cognitive Decline in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
. ABSTRACT Neuroinflammation driven by microglial activation is a defining feature of Alzheimer's disease (AD), yet the molecular mechanisms sustaining this proinflammatory state remain unclear. Here, we identify the deubiquitinase OTUD7B as a critical regulator of microglial activation and AD pathology.

TOLLIP Inhibits Psoriasis Progression via Suppressing PKM2‐Mediated Glycolysis in Keratinocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this study, we identify TOLLIP as a critical regulator of psoriasis pathogenesis through its modulation of glycolytic metabolism. Our findings establish the TOLLIP‐PKM2‐glycolysis axis as a key mechanism linking metabolic reprogramming to psoriasis pathogenesis, and propose TOLLIP as a promising therapeutic target.

Autophagy promotes p72 degradation and capsid disassembly during the early phase of African swine fever virus infection

open access: yesJournal of Virology
During viral infections, autophagy functions as a cell-intrinsic defense mechanism by facilitating the delivery of virions or viral components to the endosomal/lysosomal pathway for degradation.

A Molecular Engineering Strategy to Fine‐Tune Phototoxicity of AIE Probes for Super‐Resolution Imaging of Mitochondrial Cristae Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Regulation of molecular packing, phototoxicity, and ROS output of AIE photosensitizers is achieved through carboxylation and alkyl‐chain‐length tuning. The probe designed via this strategy enables super‐resolution visualization of inner‐mitochondrial‐membrane cristae dynamics under controlled oxidative stress, and fluorescence‐lifetime imaging of ...
