Fluoxetine, a selective inhibitor of serotonin uptake

Medicinal Research Reviews, 1991
In summary, fluoxetine is a highly selective serotonin uptake inhibitor in vitro and in vivo. The conformation of fluoxetine, which resembles that of sertraline and other serotonin uptake inhibitors, appears to be a key feature that enables its high affinity and selective interaction with the serotonin transporter. The para-trifluoromethyl substituent,

Structure activity relationship of selective GABA uptake inhibitors

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2015
A series of β-amino acids with lipophilic diaromatic side chain was synthesized and characterized pharmacologically on mouse γ-amino butyric acid (GABA) transporter subtypes mGAT1-4 in order to investigate structure activity relationships (SAR) for mGAT2 (corresponding to hBGT-1).

Dicamba Uptake, Translocation, Metabolism, and Selectivity

Weed Science, 1971
Greenhouse studies indicated that 3,6-dichloro-o-anisic acid (dicamba) or its metabolic derivative was strongly accumulated in meristematic tissues of Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum(L.) Gaertn.) and wild mustard (Sinapis arvensisL.) following both foliar and root uptake.

Selective uptake of lucifer yellow by retinal cells

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1982
AbstractWhen turtle retinae were incubated with the fluorescent dye, lucifer yellow, in the absence of Ca2+, the dye was selectively accumulated by cell bodies located in the inner nuclear layer (INL). The morphological features of the labeled cells suggested that they were bipolar cells.

Structure-Activity Relationships of Selective GABA Uptake Inhibitors

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2006
For more than four decades there has been a search for selective inhibitors of GABA transporters. This has led to potent and selective inhibitors of the cloned GABA transporter subtype GAT1, which is responsible for a majority of neuronal GABA transport. The only clinically approved compound with this mechanism of action is Tiagabine.

Selective Uptake of Radiochemical Impurities by Mitochondria

Nature, 1958
WHEN using potassium-42 to trace the exchange of potassium in a suspension of non-metabolizing mitochondria from rat liver, specimens were obtained in which the specific activity of mitochondrial potassium appeared greater than the specific activity of the separated labelling medium.

Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors in anorexia nervosa

Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2004
Anorexia nervosa (AN), one of the major eating disorders, is a primarily psychiatric illness affecting a number of adolescents and young adults. AN usually runs a chronic course and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Drug therapy has modest success in its treatment. Various pharmacotherapeutic agents are being tested, with variable

Uptake of selected antibacterial agents in Mycobacterium avium

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie und Hygiene. Series A: Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Virology, Parasitology, 1987
The antibacterial action of 64 drugs against Mycobacterium avium ATCC 15769 was screened in Middlebrook 7H9 liquid medium. The most active drugs were ansamycin, rifampicin, clofazimine, and pristinamycin. The antibacterial action of the selected drugs was confirmed by testing clinical isolates on Middlebrook 7H10 agar medium.
