Frequency dynamics of gain-switched injection-locked semiconductor lasers [PDF]
The frequency dynamics of gain-switched singlemode semiconductor lasers subject to optical injection is investigated. The requirements for low time jitter and reduced frequency chirp operation are studied as a function of the frequency mismatch between ...

A novel approach to monitoring the laser injection-locking (IL) state is proposed and verified using the side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR). In a photonics experiment for laser IL, an optical spectrum analyzer with the conventional criterion of a 35-dB ...

Passive Mode-Locking of Monolithic InGaAs/AlGaAs Double Quantum Well Lasers at 42GHz Repetition Rate [PDF]
Pulse trains with a 42GHz repetition rate were generated by monolithic InGaAs/AlGaAs double quantum well lasers at a wavelength of 985 [angstroms]. The cavity was electrically divided into three regions, one providing gain and the other two providing ...

Self-injection-locked second-harmonic integrated source
High coherence visible and near-visible laser sources are centrally important to the operation of advanced position/navigation/timing systems as well as classical/quantum sensing systems. However, the complexity and size of these bench-top lasers is an impediment to their transitioning beyond the laboratory.

Frequency-sweep generation by resonant self-injection locking
We report a novel application of self-injection locking. A diode laser is injection locked to its own frequency-shifted emission. By resonant phase modulation of the fed-back light, the laser's emission frequency is shown to swing periodically through the locking range. The laser operates as a sweep generator driven by resonant self-injection locking.
