Energy harvesting using semi-active nonlinear control

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the application of semi-active control for power harvesting using an electromechanical energy harvester. Two semi-active control strategies are proposed in the form of a time-periodic damper and a nonlinear cubic damper.

Modelling and parameter identification of a semi-active vehicle damper

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper two semi-physical models of the semi-active dampers of the DLR robotic electric vehicle ROboMObil (ROMO) are described and their implementation in Modelica is presented.

Designing an Electromagnetic Damper

open access: yesMachines
When it comes to active or semi-active suspension, one of many design challenges is the ability to dynamically change the damping rate of a shock absorber. Two fundamental means of accomplishing variable damping are by changing the restriction imposed on

Magnetorheological composites as semi-active elements of dampers

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2009
An original magnetorheological composite (MRC) with porous elastomeric matrix and filled with magnetorheological fluid was created at the work. It was used later on to build a damper working in the shearing mode without friction against external surfaces of the so-called skid. This prototype construction was used for damping free vibrations in the beam.

Single‐Cell Reveal GALNT7‐Dependent Ferroptosis Suppression as a Mechanism of Immunotherapy Resistance in Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated clinical and mechanistic analyses identify GALNT7 as a ferroptosis‐suppressive regulator associated with immunotherapy resistance in non‐small cell lung cancer. GALNT7 depletion promotes lipid peroxidation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and ferroptosis, enhances CD8+ T‐cell activation and IFN‐γ production, and sensitizes tumors to PD‐1 blockade,

Inhibition of KDEL Receptors Remodels the Tumor Microenvironment for T Cell Independent Tumor Regression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inhibition of KDELR2 in a small fraction of tumor cells generates sustainable immunogenic cell death conditions within the tumor microenvironment. These conditions promote the regression of tumors in a T cell independent manner. During regression, macrophages prime T cells that subsequently provide systemic protection against recurrence. The potency of

Modelling and Simulation of an Experimental Vehicle with Magnetorheological Dampers

open access: yes, 2004
Semi-active dampers with magnetorheological fluids are a well suited alternative for the classical hydraulic dampers with controllable orifice in many application areas including automotive.

Improving the performance of the semi-active tuned mass damper [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The tuned mass damper (TMD) is a well-known and approved concept for resonance vibration control. However, as a fully passive device, the traditional TMD has a limited operating band and rather poor robustness against parameter variations.

Biointegrated Multilayer Stretchable OLED Platform With Strain‐Decoupled Architecture for Durable Phototherapeutic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A multilayer stretchable organic light‐emitting diode (SOLED) patch enables conformal, high‐fill‐factor phototherapeutic illumination through vertically decoupled electrodes and robust encapsulation. The textile‐based SOLED platform delivers stable skin‐contact red light for wearable phototherapy and 5‐aminolevulinic acid (ALA)‐mediated photodynamic ...

A Comparison between a New Semi-Active Tuned Mass Damper and an Active Tuned Mass Damper

open access: yes, 2011
Reducing structural vibrations is one of the main concerns in structural control. Different control techniques are proposed for this purpose. Among the variety of control methods, semi-active ones are very attractive and beneficial in that they require ...
