Salsolinol: an Unintelligible and Double-Faced Molecule—Lessons Learned from In Vivo and In Vitro Experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Salsolinol (1-methyl-6,7-dihydroxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline) is a tetrahydroisoquinoline derivative whose presence in humans was first detected in the urine of Parkinsonian patients on l-DOPA (l-dihydroxyphenylalanine) medication.

Modulation of Primary Amine Oxidase by Phytochemicals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Primary Amine Oxidase (PrAO) is an enzyme with a variety of physiological roles. It catalyses the oxidative deamination of primary amines to the corresponding aldehydes. PrAO converts amines such as methylamine and aminoacetone to reactive compounds that

Theobromine and related methylxanthines as inhibitors of Primary Amine Oxidase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Methylxanthines are the most widely consumed drugs in the world and evidence of their health benefits has been growing in recent years. Primary Amine Oxidase (PrAO) has been recognised as a therapeutic target for amelioration of inflammatory, vascular ...

Novel multitarget analgesic candidate SZV-1287 demonstrates potential disease-modifying effects in the monoiodoacetate-induced osteoarthritis mouse model

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
IntroductionMonoiodoacetate (MIA)-induced osteoarthritis (OA) is the most commonly used rodent model for testing anti-OA drug candidates. Herein, we investigated the effects of our patented multitarget drug candidate SZV-1287 (3-(4,5-diphenyl-1,3-oxazol ...

A Novel MAO-B/SSAO Inhibitor Improves Multiple Aspects of Dystrophic Phenotype in mdx Mice

open access: yesAntioxidants
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is one of the most frequent and severe childhood muscle diseases. Its pathophysiology is multifaceted and still incompletely understood, but we and others have previously shown that oxidative stress plays an important ...

Semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase substrates in obesity and diabetes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
L'obésité et le diabète sont de sérieux problèmes de santé dans les pays développés. Le développement de médicaments qui pourraient normaliser un métabolisme glucidique alteré est donc une grande nécessité actuelle.

Oxidative deamination of aliphatic amines by rat aorta semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1990
AbstractRat aorta semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase (SSAO) exhibits very high affinity in the deamination of an homologous series of aliphatic amines of 1 to 18 straight chain carbon atoms. The Km value decreases substantially as the chain length of these amines increases. The Vmax values are higher for the short chain amines.

The examination of Concentration of Cu contained amine oxidase enzyme in dysmenorrhea [PDF]

open access: yes
Background and purpose: Primary dysmenorrhea, in the absence of any specific pelvic disease, is one of the most common complaints in women's medicine. The cause of primary dysmenorrhea is still not well known but prostaglandins play a major role which
