Focal Adhesion Kinase Orchestrates GLUT4 Translocation and Glucose Uptake via Cytoskeletal Turnover in Primary Adipocytes

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 10, 31 May 2025.
Inhibition of focal adhesion kinase autophosphorylation (Y397) in adipocytes is associated with reduced glucose uptake, likely via the disruptions of Arp2/3 and Rac1 activity, leading to impaired cytoskeletal remodeling and consequential impairment of GLUT4 translocation. B = binding, GTP = GTP‐loading, P = phosphorylation.

Identification of Key Active‐Site Positions Controlling the Chemoselectivity of Aspergillus Brasiliensis Unspecific Peroxygenase

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 10, May 27, 2025.
Unspecific peroxygenase (UPO) from Aspergillus brasiliensis AbrUPO catalyzes the aromatic hydroxylation of substituted benzenes. By integrating structural elements from well‐characterized UPOs in AbrUPO variants, position 186 was identified as a critical determinant of enzyme chemoselectivity.

Reduced Palmitoylation of SQSTM1/p62 in Huntington Disease Is Associated With Impaired Autophagy

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 9, 15 May 2025.
Sequestosome 1 (SQSTM1)/p62 is a receptor for autophagy required to deliver damaged organelles and aggregated proteins to the lysosome for degradation. SQSTM1 undergoes palmitoylation, the reversible addition of the saturated fatty acid palmitate to cysteines.
