Numerical study of cancer cell invasion dynamics using adaptive mesh refinement: the urokinase model [PDF]
In the present work we investigate the chemotactically and proteolytically driven tissue invasion by cancer cells. The model employed is a system of advection-reaction-diffusion equations that features the role of the serine protease urokinase-type plasminogen activator.

This work utilizes spatial transcriptomics to map the transcriptional landscape of adenomyosis with obvious invagination structure from the invaginating site to deep lesions. By integrating with single‐cell RNA sequencing, this study elucidates the molecular features of invagination, invasion, and fibrosis, and finds the major participants and vital ...

Two well-characterized proteases secreted by Vibrio cholerae O1 strains are hemagglutinin protease (HAP) and V. cholerae protease (PrtV). The hapA and prtV knock out mutant, V. cholerae O1 strain CHA6.8ΔprtV, still retains residual protease activity.

Structures of a bi-functional Kunitz-type STI family inhibitor of serine and aspartic proteases: could the aspartic protease inhibition have evolved from a canonical serine protease-binding loop? [PDF]
Bi-functional inhibitors from the Kunitz-type soybean trypsin inhibitor (STI) family are glycosylated proteins able to inhibit serine and aspartic proteases.

This study indicates that Serpine2 plays a pivotal role in hair cell (HC) regeneration from Lgr5+ progenitors in the neonatal mouse cochlea. Conditional overexpression of Serpine2 in cochlear Lgr5+ progenitors results in a significantly increased number of ectopic HCs, particularly ectopic inner HCs, and these HCs are likely derived from Lgr5 ...

BC‐11 is a covalent TMPRSS2 fragment inhibitor that impedes SARS‐CoV‐2 host cell entry
Drug repurposing has the potential to accelerate the discovery of TMPRSS2 inhibitors acting as COVID‐19 antivirals. In this regard, a low throughput screening led to the identification of BC‐11 as a covalent TMPRSS2 fragment inhibitor (IC50 = 1.44 µM), displaying significant SARS‐CoV‐2 entry inhibition (EC50 = 66 µM). Abstract Host cell entry of severe

Site-directed mutagenesis of the proposed catalytic amino acids of the Sindbis virus capsid protein autoprotease [PDF]
The structural proteins of Sindbis virus are translated as a polyprotein precursor that is cleaved upon translation. The capsid protein is postulated to be a serine protease that releases itself from the N terminus of the nascent polyprotein by ...

Engineering novel complement activity into a pulmonary surfactant protein [PDF]
Complement neutralizes invading pathogens, stimulates inflammatory and adaptive immune responses, and targets non- or altered-self structures for clearance.

In the context of chronic hyperglycemia, a DDR is initiated, leading to the pathological activation of DNA‐PKcs in the diabetic heart. This activated DNA‐PKcs directly interacts with and phosphorylates YAP1 at Thr226, thereby increasing the nuclear expression of YAP1.

Escherichia coli EHEC Germany outbreak preliminary functional annotation using BG7 system [PDF]
We have annotated the European outbreak E. coli EHEC genome sequenced by BGI (6-2-2011) and assembled with MIRA by Nick Loman (6-2-2011 ). Our system BG7, Bacterial Genome annotation of Era7 Bioinformatics, predicts ORFs and annotates them based on ...
