Serpins from wheat grain [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1994
Wheat serpin genes have been identified by Southern blot hybridization with three distinct barley protein Z probes. Immunoblot analysis with a monoclonal antibody towards barley protein Z confirmed expression of related M r ~ 40 kDa proteins in wheat grain.

The stability and activity of human neuroserpin are modulated by a salt bridge that stabilises the reactive centre loop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Neuroserpin (NS) is an inhibitory protein belonging to the serpin family and involved in several pathologies, including the dementia Familial Encephalopathy with Neuroserpin Inclusion Bodies (FENIB), a genetic neurodegenerative disease caused by ...

Stepwise Reversion of Multiply Mutated Recombinant Antitrypsin Reveals a Selective Inhibitor of Coagulation Factor XIa as Active as the M358R Variant

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2021
Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT, also known as alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor or SERPINA1) is the most abundant member of the serpin superfamily found in human plasma.

Serpina3c Mitigates Adipose Tissue Inflammation by Inhibiting the HIF1α-Mediated Endoplasmic Reticulum Overoxidation in Adipocytes [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes & Metabolism Journal
Background Visceral white adipose tissue (vWAT) inflammation is a critical pathology of obesity-caused heart damage and is closely associated with adipocyte endoplasmic reticulum (ER) dysfunction. Serine (or cysteine) peptidase inhibitor, clade A, member

Heparin Blocks the Inhibition of Tissue Kallikrein 1 by Kallistatin through Electrostatic Repulsion

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2020
Kallistatin, also known as SERPINA4, has been implicated in the regulation of blood pressure and angiogenesis, due to its specific inhibition of tissue kallikrein 1 (KLK1) and/or by its heparin binding ability.

Identification and in-silico characterization of Serpin genes in legumes genomes

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2020
Serine protease inhibitors (serpins) are a unique family of protease inhibitor containing mobile reactive center loop. The availability of genome sequences of pigeonpea, soybean, commanbean, cowpea, mungbean and adzuki bean provided an opportunity to ...

SerpinB3 and Yap Interplay Increases Myc Oncogenic Activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
SerpinB3 has been recently described as an early marker of liver carcinogenesis, but the potential mechanistic role of this serpin in tumor development is still poorly understood.

Remote Pancreatic Response to Severe Polytrauma Correlates With Clinical Outcome. [PDF]

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterol J
ABSTRACT Background Acute pancreatic injury can result from blunt or sharp force trauma, often leading to serious complications. While direct pancreatic trauma is associated with high rates of infection, organ failure, and mortality, little is known about the pancreas as a potential secondary target and remote trauma organ and thereby as a booster of ...

A Mussel‐Inspired Bioadhesive Patch to Selectively Kill Glioblastoma Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative mussel‐inspired bioadhesive patch has been developed for post‐surgical glioblastoma treatment. The patch, which adheres strongly in biological environments, releases a localized treatment. This treatment, acting via reactive oxygen species, shows specific toxicity to glioblastoma cells.
