Evaluation of acute phase proteins in cows affected by Traumatic Reticuloperitonitis [PDF]

open access: yesĀsīb/shināsī-i Darmāngāhī-i Dāmpizishkī, 2008
Traumatic Reticuloperitonitis is one of the most important diseases of the bovine digestive system which if diagnosed in early stage and before severe adhesions develop, more effective treatments leading to better prognosis could be under taken.

Successful treatment of AA amyloidosis with tocilizumab, resulting in the disappearance of amyloid deposits: a case-based review

open access: yesEgyptian Rheumatology and Rehabilitation
Background AA amyloidosis is a multisystem disease characterized by the deposition of serum amyloid A protein, which is secondary to chronic inflammation.

Abatacept Improves Intractable Protein-Losing Enteropathy Secondary to AA Amyloidosis in a Patient With Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesMayo Clinic Proceedings: Innovations, Quality & Outcomes, 2020
A 71-year-old Japanese woman with a history of rheumatoid arthritis of 50 years’ duration was admitted to our hospital with refractory diarrhea. Endoscopic biopsy revealed AA amyloid deposition in the large intestine.

Effect of pre-analytical treatments on bovine milk acute phase proteins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background Samples for diagnostic procedures often require some form of pre-analytical preparation for preservation or safe handling during transportation prior to analysis in the laboratory.

Serum Amyloid A Protein in Clinical Cancer Diagnosis

open access: yesPathology & Oncology Research, 2011
The serum amyloid A (SAA) protein is an acute phase protein that is synthesized under the regulation of inflammatory cytokines during both acute and chronic inflammation. It is suggested that the SAA increases correlate with many types of carcinogenesis and neoplastic diseases.

Expression of Recombinant Feline Serum Amyloid A(SAA) Protein.

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Medical Science, 1999
Feline serum amyloid A (SAA) cDNA clone was isolated from a hepatic mRNA of a mixed-breed cat. The feline SAA cDNA clone contains 333 nucleotides and deduced amino acid sequence shows 87.4%, 73.9%, and 65.8% homology with dog, human and mouse SAA respectively.

Serum amyloid A protein in acute viral infections. [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Disease in Childhood, 1993
Concentrations of serum amyloid A protein (SAA) were measured in 254 children with viral diseases, including measles, varicella, rubella, mumps, echo-30 meningitis, chronic hepatitis B and C, and in eight with Kawasaki disease. Latex agglutination nephelometric immunoassay was used for assaying SAA.

Cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers in psychiatric autoimmune encephalitis: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2023
BackgroundPsychiatric autoimmune encephalitis (pAE) is a growing field of interest in diagnosis and therapy in psychiatric hospitals and institutions. This study investigates the relevant extent to which there are potential biomarkers in cerebrospinal ...

Evolution of the Serum Amyloid A (SAA) Protein Superfamily

open access: yesGenomics, 1994
The serum amyloid A (SAA) superfamily comprises a number of genes and proteins characterized from a range of mammalian species. The majority of members described to date are dramatically induced during the acute-phase response, suggesting an important short-term beneficial role in the response to tissue injury and inflammation.

A co-ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide/luteolin composite mitigates clinical score and disease-relevant molecular markers in a mouse model of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: Persistent and/or recurrent inflammatory processes are the main factor leading to multiple sclerosis (MS) lesions. The composite ultramicronized palmitoylethanolamide, an endogenous N-acylethanolamine, combined with the flavonoid luteolin ...
