After gastrointestinal infection with Shiga-like toxin (Stx) producing Escherichia coli, the toxin is transported from the intestine to the renal microvascular endothelium. This is the main target for Stx in humans. Previous studies indicated that polymorphonuclear leucocytes (PMN) could serve as carriers for Stx in the systemic circulation.

Targeted Photo‐Induced Elimination of Tumor‐Associated Macrophages Suppresses Cancer Progression in a Murine Model

This study demonstrates the selective depletion of tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) by targeting CSF1R through near‐infrared photoimmunotherapy (NIR‐PIT). Using a combination of anti‐CSF1R Fab‐IR700 conjugates and localized light irradiation, we achieved tumor suppression and durable antitumor immunity without systemic toxicity.
