Development of a Scoring System to Predict the Treatment Success for Nonoperative Management of Peptic Ulcer Perforation: A Secondary Data Analysis of PPAP Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Although surgical treatment is the primary measure for patients with perforated peptic ulcer (PPU), nonoperative management (NOM) has become a common alternative. However, risk score models predicting the success of NOM based on the analysis of a large number of patients remain scarce.

Comparing Prophylactic Administration of Sulbactam/Ampicillin Versus Cefmetazole for Prevention of Perineal Wound Infection Following Abdominoperineal Resection for Rectal Cancer: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This prospective randomized trial demonstrated that a 4‐day regimen of sulbactam/ampicillin significantly reduced the incidence of perineal wound infection (PWI) following abdominoperineal resection compared to a 1‐day cefmetazole regimen. This simple approach to antibiotic selection may be beneficial for preventing PWI.

Overcoming Clinical Barriers: Utilizing Self‐Assembly Systems to Break the Protease Limitations of Antimicrobial Peptides

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
This study addresses AMPs' clinical application challenges by enhancing stability via molecular assembly. Pba* shows high antibacterial activity, biocompatibility, and low toxicity, paving the way for antimicrobial materials. ABSTRACT Natural antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) encounter significant challenges in transitioning to clinical application ...
