Power Quality Improvement using Shunt Active Filter

2017 International Conference on Current Trends in Computer, Electrical, Electronics and Communication (CTCEEC), 2017
In this paper Active filters are used to improve the quality of the power in the load side of the power system. This consists of two parts,1)Simulation in which we are adopting the method of hysteresis control method to reduce the third harmonic at the load side.2)Using a model of MOSFET and gate drivers to minimize the third harmonics at the load side.

Shunt active filter for reactive power compensation

International Journal of Electronics, 2001
A simple control technique for three-phase shunt active filters without computation of the reactive current component is presented. A current controller with fast dynamics for an active filter is described. Reactive current is directly controlled without the need for sensing and computing the reactive component of the load current, thus simplifying the

Shunt active power filter synthesizing resistive loads

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2002
The paper discusses the use of a shunt active power filter to compensate for the line current distortion and to improve the power factor. The advantages of the resistive load synthesis over the sinusoidal current synthesis when the filter is used in a system where the voltage is not perfectly sinusoidal are presented.

Conservative power theory implementation in shunt active power filtering

International School on Nonsinusoidal Currents and Compensation 2013 (ISNCC 2013), 2013
This paper analyzes the current decomposition, in three-phase, three-wire systems, based on the Conservative Power Theory (CPT), and the application of these components in the active filtering. The CPT current decomposition gives the active component of the current, the reactive component, which can be compensated or not and the void current.

Shunt Active Power filter apparent power for design process

2008 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2008
The main purpose of this paper is the study of the shunt active power filter (APF) compensations capability for different perturbations in three wire AC power system such as current unbalance, phase shift current and undesired harmonics generated by non linear load under balanced power system voltages.

Apparent power ratio of the Shunt Active Power Filter

2008 13th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference, 2008
The main purpose of this paper is the evaluation of the shunt active power filter apparent power ratio between the apparent power generated by the source power system to the load and the compensation apparent power produced by the shunt APF to force the currents circulating toward the source to be sinusoidal and balanced. This ratio allows defining the

Artificial Neural Network Controlled Shunt Active Power Filter

2006 Annual IEEE India Conference, 2006
This paper presents neural based Proportional Integral (PI) control applicable for active power filters for single-phase system, which are comprised of multiple nonlinear loads. The system consists of an uncontrolled rectifier and ac controller as the non-linear loads, with an active filter to compensate for the harmonic current injected by the load ...

Lyapunov control method of shunt active power filter

The 5th Annual International Power Electronics, Drive Systems and Technologies Conference (PEDSTC 2014), 2014
A control method of a three-phase, four-wire inverter shunt active power filter (SAPF) based on Lyapunov function proposed in this paper. This paper presents averaged model, and the state-space equation of the SAPF. A Lyapunov energy function is considered to extract inverter switching functions.

Fuzzy logic controller for shunt Active Power Filter

2014 4th International Conference on Engineering Technology and Technopreneuship (ICE2T), 2014
This paper presents a shunt Active Power Filter (APF) based on detection load current and harmonic voltage at the point of installation by using the fuzzy control method. The fuzzy logic based PWM technique will reduce harmonics and compensate reactive power. The shunt APF is implemented with PWM-current controlled Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) and the
