Solid‐Phase Synthesis of Sialyl Tn Antigen

Journal of Carbohydrate Chemistry, 2006
Solid‐phase synthesis of sialyl Tn [α‐Neu5Ac‐(2→6)‐α‐GalNAc‐(1→O)‐Ser] antigen with Kenner's acylsulfonamide linker is described. The acylsulfonamide bond was found to be stable under glycosylation reactions using dimethyl(methylthio)sulfonium triflate (DMTST) as a promoter and basic conditions used for the removal of protecting groups. The solid‐phase

Expression of Tn and Sialyl-Tn Antigens in Tumor Tissues of the Ovary

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1991
The expression of sialyl-Tn and Tn antigens in various benign, borderline, and malignant ovarian tumors was examined immunohistochemically using newly developed antibodies specific for sialyl-Tn and Tn antigens. Sialyl-Tn antigen was detected in only one benign tumor, a mucinous adenoma that showed faint cytoplasmic staining in a few cells.

Serum Sialyl-Tn Antigen Levels in Patients with Digestive Cancers

Oncology, 2009
Serum levels of sialyl-Tn antigen (STN) were measured using a one-step radioimmunoassay kit in 257 patients with digestive cancers, 121 patients with benign digestive diseases, and in 64 healthy controls. With 45 U/ml regarded as the cutoff value, the positive rates of serum STN in digestive cancers were as follows: pancreas 40.0%, stomach 28.1, colon ...

The solution conformation of C-glycosyl analogues of the sialyl-Tn antigen

Carbohydrate Research, 2007
The conformational behavior of two C-glycosyl analogues of the sialyl-Tn antigen has been determined by a combination of NMR methods and molecular mechanics calculations. Both compounds show a major solution conformation that is drastically different from the major one of the natural compound.

Coexpression of cancer-associated carbohydrate antigens, Tn and sialyl Tn

Glycoconjugate Journal, 1994
The expression of cancer-associated antigens, Tn and sialyl Tn, was examined using monoclonal antibodies, MLS 128 and MLS 102, recognizing these two antigens, respectively. A cell lysate from a human carcinoma cell line, LS 180 cells, was analysed by Western blotting using these two antibodies.

Expression of sialyl‐Tn, Tn and T antigens in primary liver cancer

Pathology International, 1999
Sialyl‐Tn, Tn and T antigens are caused by aberrant or incomplete glycosylation of apomucins and are related to the aggressiveness of malignant neoplasms. Using 41 liver samples from patients with cholangiocarcinoma (including four with cirrhosis), 21 with combined hepatocellular– cholangiocellular carcinoma and 17 with hepatocellular carcinoma, the ...

An O-Acetylated Sialyl-Tn Is Involved in Ovarian Cancer-Associated Antigenicity

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2000
We reported previously that a monoclonal antibody, 6G9, raised against bovine submaxillary mucin (BSM) reacted with mucinous ovarian cancer and recognized tumor-associated sialylated carbohydrate antigens. To obtain structural information on the carbohydrate antigens recognized by 6G9, the reactivity of several mucins and carbohydrates with the ...

High serum concentrations of sialyl Tn antigen in carcinomas of the biliary tract and pancreas

Journal of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery, 1999
Sialyl-Tn (STn) antigen is a cancer-associated carbohydrate antigen expressed in cancers of the digestive tract. In the present study, we compared the serum level of STn antigen in 14 patients with benign diseases of the biliary tract and pancreas, 15 patients with bile duct cancers, and 9 patients with cancer of the pancreas. High levels of serum STn (

SERUM SIALYL-TN ANTIGEN LEVEL AS A PROGNOSTIC INDICATOR IN PATIENTS WITH GASTRIC-CANCER

International Journal of Oncology, 1994
The sialyl-Tn antigen (STN) is a mucin glycoprotein that recently has received attention as a cancer-related antigen. This antigen is considered to be the antigen of core region of mucin oligosaccharides, which differs considerably from type 1 chain carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA19-9) and type 2 chain antigen sialyl-SSEA-1 (SLX).

Immunodetection of sialyl-Tn antigen in normal, hyperplastic and cancerous tissues of the uterine endometrium

Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histopathology, 1991
The expression of sialyl-Tn antigen (STn) in normal, hyperplastic and neoplastic tissues of the uterine endometrium was examined by immunoperoxidase staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples using the monoclonal antibody TKH-2, directed toward the STn structure (NeuAc 2-6GalNac 1-O-serine or threonine).
