Sideslip Angle Estimation for Distributed Drive Electric Vehicles Based on Robust Unscented Particle Filter

open access: yesMathematics
An accurate and reliable sideslip angle is crucial for active safety control systems and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The direct measurement method of the sideslip angle suffers from challenges of high costs and environmental sensitivity ...

APF‐NMPC‐Based Hybrid Path Planning for Autonomous Vehicles in Underground Mining Areas

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes a hybrid path planning method integrating both detouring and crossing strategies. First, a novel obstacle risk field model is constructed. By introducing a dynamic obstacle avoidance adjustment factor, this model achieves precise quantification of the crossable risk of obstacles in three‐dimensional space.

On the Vehicle Sideslip Angle Estimation: A Literature Review of Methods, Models, and Innovations [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
Typical active safety systems that control the dynamics of passenger cars rely on the real-time monitoring of the vehicle sideslip angle (VSA), together with other signals such as the wheel angular velocities, steering angle, lateral acceleration, and the rate of rotation about the vertical axis, which is known as the yaw rate.

A Novel Reduced‐Order Underwater Vehicle Dynamics Model for VDM‐Based Navigation: Structure and Parameter Setting

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
The existing vehicle dynamics model (VDM)‐based navigation rely on high‐order VDMs to serve as a virtual Doppler velocity log, causing complexity of identification algorithm as well as imperfect identification performance. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a reduced‐order VDM structure and its parameter setting method to minimise navigation ...

Estimation of the Sideslip Angle of an Articulated Vehicle by an Observer

open access: yesEngineering in Agriculture, Environment and Food, 2011
A direct yaw-moment control system of an articulated vehicle is being developed to reduce the vehicle's turning radius. This system can control the yaw moment around the vehicle's center of gravity by operating the right or left braking force. However, it has been noted that the vehicle's stability may worsen when the sideslip angle increases depending

Integrated Simulation of Missile Guidance and Energy Effects on Warhead Effectiveness in Air‐to‐Air Engagements

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents an integrated simulation framework for assessing air‐to‐air engagement effectiveness, accounting for missile guidance dynamics, target motion, radar signal processing, and target vulnerability to warhead effects. The proposed approach combines models of missile‐target interaction, radar cross‐section (RCS)‐based signal processing ...

Study on Vehicle Driving Stability Under the Coupling of Ramp Circular Curve Radius and Pavement Wetness State

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To clarify the coupled effects of ramp circular curve radius and pavement wetness state on vehicle driving stability, 26 ramp models with circular curve radii ranging from 30 to 280 m were constructed using Carsim software, and pavement friction coefficients were set as 0.85 (dry), 0.5 (wet), and 0.2 (rainfall) to simulate different wetness states ...

Comprehensive Behavior Spectrum Analysis of Risky Driving Behaviors on Mountain Curves

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Constrained by complex topography, mountain roads with tight bends and steep slopes show inherently high‐risk traits, with accident rates several times higher than on ordinary roads. Dynamic driving behaviors and complex environmental interferences have long hindered risk assessment due to fragmented data and static analysis.

Assessment Method for Driving Risk of Heavy‐Duty Trucks at Interchange Ramps

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The accident rate of interchange ramps based on investigated Chinese cases is approximately two times higher than that of mainline sections, where losses in human lives and economic costs caused by heavy‐duty truck (HDT) accidents are far greater than those of sedans. Nevertheless, existing risk assessments overlook the coupled effects of human–vehicle–
