Farmers' Beliefs About Climate Action: Evidence From an Information Experiment
ABSTRACT Farmers' adoption of climate change mitigation practices is crucial for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from food production. One major source of these emissions is chemical fertilizer application. Introducing clover into grassland can mitigate emissions by reducing the need for chemical fertilizers.

Supplementing beef cattle diets with brown seaweed affects coprophagous beetles' dung use
Supplementing beef cattle diets with brown seaweed reduced the attractiveness of dung for a common dung beetle (Onthophagus nuchicornis). Dietary supplementation with brown seaweed appeared to reduce the proportion of major males in the F1 generation.

In vitro embryo production (IVEP) is now a widely commercialised assisted reproductive technology used in cattle reproduction. The use of follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) to superstimulate donor cattle prior to ovum pick‐up (OPU) is generally regarded as an effective strategy to improve oocyte quality, developmental competence and increase embryo ...

Environmentally adjusted productivity growth and shadow prices for dairy farms
Abstract We estimate the environmentally adjusted productivity growth and shadow price for Ontario dairy farms. We use an input‐oriented directional distance function and farm‐level data from 2000 to 2020. First, we find that while GHG emissions per cow increase with higher milk yields, emission intensity decreases as milk yield per cow increases.

Prevalence of peripheral dental caries and diastemata in horses fed high‐carbohydrate diets
Summary Background Peripheral dental caries and diastemata impair equine oral health. Diets rich in soluble carbohydrates are suspected risk factors, but few studies have assessed their impact. In Brazil, sugarcane is widely used as a forage source due to its availability and low cost.

Quality evaluation of pearl millet silages using Saccharomyces cerevisiae as silage additive
The present study was conducted to ascertain the quality of pearl millet-sorghum and pearl millet-cowpea fodders (PM-S and PM-C) with their respective silages made with or without S. cerevisiae as silage inoculant in polybags. On opening the bags after 45 days all the silages were free from moulds and had comparable pH.

Silage microbiology and its control through additives [PDF]
Ensiling is a method of preserving a moist crop. A moist crop can support the growth of a wide range of microorganisms, most of which will degrade the nutrient value to livestock. However, ensiling generally controls microbial activity by a combination of an anaerobic environment and a natural fermentation of sugars by lactic acid bacteria on the crop.
