In 2021, Hawaii will permanently ban the use and sale of octinoxate-based sunscreens as studies have shown serious impacts of such UV filters on the coral reef. This ban, which could be generalized to other countries, highlights the extreme need to offer

Effects of Rosmarinic Acid and Sinapic Acid on the Skeletal System in Ovariectomized Rats. [PDF]
Background/Objectives: It is believed that some polyphenols, including phenolic acids, may counteract estrogen deficiency-induced bone loss, decreasing oxidative stress. Moreover, some phenolic acids—among others, rosmarinic acid and sinapic acid—have been reported to increase the serum estradiol concentration in rats.

Structural insight into the oxidation of sinapic acid by CotA laccase
Laccases can oxidize plenty of substrates by use of molecular oxygen as the final electron acceptor. The broad substrate spectrum is further expanded by using redox mediators in so-called laccase-mediator systems, but the structural studies on interactions between laccases and natural mediators are still absent.

Oxidative coupling of sinapic acid
Oxidative coupling of phenolic compounds is an important method used by synthetic organic chemists for the synthesis of various lignans. It has also been implicated in lignan biosynthesis. Recently, it was discovered that sinapic acid in a basic buffer in the presence of oxygen was quantitatively converted to the lignan, thomasidioic acid.

Sinapic Acid Ameliorates REV-ERB α Modulated Mitochondrial Fission against MPTP-Induced Parkinson's Disease Model. [PDF]
Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease worldwide, and accumulating evidence indicates that mitochondrial dysfunction is associated with progressive deterioration in PD patients.
