Metabolism of β-sitosterol in man [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1970
The metabolism of beta-sitosterol was compared to that of cholesterol in 12 patients. Sterol balance methods were supplemented by radiosterol studies, with the following results. (a) Plasma concentrations of beta-sitosterol ranged from 0.30 to 1.02 mg/100 ml plasma in patients on intakes of beta-sitosterol typical of the American diet.

Detailed study of Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) oil micro-compounds : Phospholipids, tocopherols and sterols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The oil of the Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) was studied for its composition in fatty acids, tocopherols, sterols and phospholipids. The fatty acids composition of phospholipids was also studied.

Selenium Dehydrogenation of Sitosterol [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1933
WE have reported1 that the selenium dehydrogena-tion of cholesterol C27H46O and ergosterol C28H44O gives two different hydrocarbons, C25H24, m.p. 225°, and C26H26, m.p. 214°, respectively, while Diels and Karstens2 claimed the formation of only one product, C25H24, m.p. 220°, from both sterols.

Phytosterols Augment Endurance against Interactive Effects of Heat and Drought Stress on Biochemical Activities of Citrullus lanatus var. citroides (L.H. Bailey) Mansf. Ex Greb

open access: yesInternational Journal of Plant Biology
Water deficit and heat are the primary abiotic stresses affecting plants. We conducted in vitro experiments to investigate how citron watermelon seedlings respond to water deficit and heat, focusing on growth, water status, reserve mobilization ...

K for K (Kelor for anti-Kolesterol : Kajian Mengenai Konsumsi Daun Kelor sebagai Penghambat Sintesis Kolesterol dalam Upaya Pencegahan Batu Empedu)

open access: yesScripta Score Scientific Medical Journal, 2019

Sitosterol Feeding [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation Research, 1958
Sitosterol has previously been shown to block cholesterol absorption in both animals and man. Its clinical effectiveness in reducing hypercholesteremia has been repeatedly demonstrated. For periods exceeding 4 years, large amounts of sitosterol have been given daily for maintaining reduction of serum cholesterol concentration.

CORE: Cholesterol Altered Lipid Nanoparticles for Splenic Expression of mRNA Payloads

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this paper researchers introduce CORE LNPs, a new class of lipid nanoparticles engineered to redirect mRNA expression away from the liver and into the spleen, a key immune organ. By combining chemical design with computational tools, they created cholesterol analogs that enable precise spleen‐targeted expression, providing greater applications for ...

Regulatory effects of dietary sterols and bile acids on rat intestinal HMG CoA reductase

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
The specific activity (concentration) of microsomal HMG CoA reductase of intestinal crypt cells was studied in rats fed sterols and bile acids, either singly or in combination.
