Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

Small Extracellular Vesicles‐Derived Circ6718 Unlocks Stromal Remodeling and Serves as a Biomarker in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
sEVs‐circ6718 serves as a promising serum biomarker for gastric cancer early diagnosis and prognosis, promoting malignant transformation in gastric cancer cells and GC‑MSC differentiation into CAFs. sEVs‑circ6718 holds potential as a biomarker for the early diagnosis and prognostic assessment of gastric cancer.

The Development and Pilot Clinical Study of CD147 Targeted Antagonistic Peptide Probe for Tumor Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes [68Ga]Ga‐DOTA‐AP9 as a first‐in‐human CD147‐targeted PET tracer with favorable safety and specific tumor uptake. Tracer accumulation correlates with CD147 expression in patients, enabling noninvasive quantification of CD147‐positive malignancies.

Turbulent Time and Length Scale Measurements in High-Velocity Open Channel Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In high-velocity open channel flows, the measurements of air-water flow properties are complicated by the strong interactions between the flow turbulence and the entrained air.

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Astrocytic Phenotypic Switching in Posterior Piriform Cortex Orchestrates Bone Cancer Pain–Depression Comorbidity via Purinergic–Noradrenergic Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bone cancer pain and depression share a common origin: astrocytic A2‐to‐A1 transition in the posterior piriform cortex. This phenotypic shift disrupts the ATP–adenosine–A2AR–norepinephrine axis, simultaneously driving nociceptive and affective dysfunction.

Oil Layer Flow around Skimming Vessels

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Naval Architects of Japan, 1990
ABSTRACT The flow of an oil layer around an advancing skimming vessel was investigated theoretically on the following assumptions: (1) the oil layer is so thin that the velocity distribution is uniform over the depth; (2) there is no shear and tension at the oil-water interface; and (3) the density difference between oil and water is so small that the ...

Dynamics of skimming flow in the wake of a vegetation patch

open access: yesAeolian Research, 2016
AbstractDryland vegetation is often spatially patchy, and so affects wind flow in complex ways. Theoretical models and wind tunnel testing have shown that skimming flow develops above vegetation patches at high plant densities, resulting in little or no wind erosion in these zones.

Air-Water Time and Length Scales in Skimming Flows on a Stepped Spillway: Application to the Spray Characterisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Modern stepped spillways are typically designed for large discharge capacities corresponding to a skimming flow regime. Skimming flows are characterised by large amounts of entrained air and very-strong interactions between main stream turbulence, step ...
